TI Damon Jones for Kopono?

Post#1 » by shrink » Thu Oct 9, 2008 12:41 am

I'm curious if this minor deal interests Bucks fans.

Damon Jones
2008-09 $4,456,250

Kopono
2008-09 $5,784,480
2009-10 $6,212,960
2010-11 $6,641,440

Jones.........Kopono
6' 3"............6' 8"

MPG 19.9...18.9
FG% 0.416...0.488
FT% 0.714...0.860
3P% 0.417...0.483
RPG 1.1...1.5
APG 1.9...0.8
SPG 0.3...0.4
BPG 0.0 ...0.0
PPG 6.5...7.2

I'm curious as part of a three team trade. MIL was sixth from last in 3P shooting last year, and it seems to me Damon Jones is worthless on the floor. He has value as an expiring, but it seems to me you guys might hang onto him to try to get closer to being under the lux in 2009. Jones may not get minutes, but I suppose Kopono may not either behind Jefferson and hopefully a developing Joe Alexander. Still, he provides a terrific long range shooter with size that can give the team another look, and perhaps help a win-now team.

I didn't know, so I thought I'd ask the experts. I don't expect extreme emotions on either side of this one, but I was wondering how you guys leaned.

Kapono can't defend and we have three small forwards who will get playing time before he would: RJ, Joe Alexander and Mbah Moute. We have no need for Kapono.

I'd rather dangle him to Denver and hope they are so disgusted by TInsleys contract that they would love to give us Steven Hunter for DJ. Hunter is at least a big body if we need him.

EDIT: Oh yeah, with Kaponos three years left on his deal it makes it not even take a second to dismiss this as a horrible deal. We'd rather let DJ sit at home all year and just let his deal expire.

Kapono owes that contract to Shaq and D-Wade just as much as Damon Jones does.

I'd rather let Jones expire than take on Kapono's horrendous deal.

Initial reaction: A shooter of his caliber wouldn't be bad.
After seeing his contract: Oh hell no.

There has got to be someone else out there we can get that doesn't have that bad of a contract.

Gadz for Kapono makes sense IMO. Fills a need for both teams.

I might consider Damon and Bell for Kapono. I think that works in the trade checker or it is close at least.

I don't think there doing that. Gadz plus our 09 1st is going to be hard to move. This guy is miles past bad. Man I wish we had Za Za instead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
