It didn't occur to me earlier when answering those waiver questions, but we don't have to worry about most of the teams with higher waiver priorities. Hendrix is signed to a 3 year minimum salary contract. Mobile browser = 260 character limit, more to come :)

MSE can only be used to absorb 1 or 2 year minimum salary contracts. To claim Hendrix, a team either needs actual cap space, a DPE, or a TPE.
We have a TPE from the Mo Williams trade for just over $1 mil

Oh, I think I know this one. The fact that it's three years means that the teams have to have some kind of exception or be under the cap enough to take on his entire salary?

I think I read that, oh, a day ago when you posted the link to the FAQ.

EDIT: I am really late on that one.

Hendrix has an interesting contract. This year's salary is guaranteed already. 2nd year only is $100k guaranteed if waived before 8/1/09, then 50% guaranteed, then fully guaranteed if he makes the opening day roster. 3rd year NG'd if waived before 6/16/10

I don't think I'll get a chance to find this out yet today, but I'd like to look into what other teams with a potentially higher waiver priority would even be able to claim Hendrix. I do hope we worsen our priority tonight with a win though :)

i second the notion. we've been saying it for a while now, we need a bruiser on this team.

i think you'll find hendrix has a standing reach similar to most power forwards. where his head actually stops is pretty much irrelevant.

I don't really see Hendrix as a "bruiser," but he is really a good rebounder, which is a big part of what bruisers are supposed to be good at.

It's always nice to see the floor, but yeah, his standing reach is average.

To be clear, Kurz is a PF and taller than Hendrix, but I agree that style-wise this makes sense.

I'd say the odds of us making room on the roster (since we're at 15 already) and picking up Hendrix are between slim and none, but I appreciate the enthusiasm. It seems like teams are way too interested in paying vets with zero potential to sit on the ends of the bench rather than take chances on young players. I'd prefer to dump Elson over Croshere to be honest, which makes Elson's PO next year all the more annoying.

Oh, and about our PF position--obviously there a big questions long term about what do there, but it's hardly been a train wreck this season. By PER standards, our PFs actually have outproduced opponents this year, which hasn't been true of our PGs, SFs, and Cs.
