What's the point of taking on salary for next year? You might as well keep RJ if that's your plan. The reason many are talking about an RJ trade is to clear space for this offseason so we can retain CV and/or Sessions without going over the luxury tax. That's a much better plan than trying to hold on to the 8th seed by trading RJ for JON.

we do not take on salary we swap it for one year and eliminate it the next year.
Overall we cut salary.
We reduce 2 year commitment of RJ & Gadz to a 1 year that has great trade value next year.
That's concrete and realistic.

What are your spectacular specifics that going to clear salary?
You suggesting the tired old Portland LaFrentz OR Cavs Wally? Totally a pipe dream. Unrealistic.
NNeither Cavs or Blazers touch those.
Besides that puts us in full tank mode which Skiles, Hammond & Kohl will not do.

Even if you could clear RJ off -
Your whole strategy revolves around only resigning CV & Ramon.
They might be good but
Unlike you I do not think only resigning CV and Ramon is gonna make us great and is limited vision.

Having ONeal & Luke's expirings to trade could get us a better player(s), pick(s) and maybe even enuf salary space we could still resign one of them.
Anyway we are not getting there in one year. Its gonna take at least two to rebuild.

What's your specific realistic plan?
