Injuries

Post#1 » by Rodya » Tue Feb 8, 2011 4:04 pm

As of 02/08/2011

C Mike Modano (wrist surgery) was injured on Nov. 26 and is expected back in early March.

D Brad Stuart (broken jaw) was injured on Jan. 7 and is due back in late February or early March.

G Chris Osgood (hernia) had surgery on Jan. 11 and is due back in early March.

RW Tomas Holmstrom (broken hand) was injured on Jan. 14 and is due back later this week.

RW Jan Mursak (bruised toe) was injured on Saturday and is due back later this week.

Datysuk finally came back with a good game and helped the Wings get a much needed win.

Lidstrom on Pavel Datysuk wrote:"It didn't look like he missed 19 games. He's so good offensively and defensively, working hard, getting the puck back. Just his awareness on the ice. When you haven't played for almost two months, you're not in game shape, but it didn't look like he missed a beat."

Obviously all the injuries are taking their toll. I'm just thrilled that we have stayed competitive during this all and have weathered the storm

Getting Pavel back was huge. Now lets hope everyone else is on track

I'd just like to state how ridiculous the entire Khabibulin situation has turned out. Leaves the Russian Premier League to play for the Red Wings. Get's placed on waivers, as is required by the CBA. Is immediately claimed by the last place Islanders. He refuses to acknowledge Islander management. A media back and forth between the two parties ensues and now he is starting for them. Absolutely ridiculous.

Interesting article regarding the Red Wings and the upcoming trade deadline. To summarize, Holland, much like last year, expects the return of many injured players to have a similar impact to a trade. Outside a the slight chance of a back-up goalie acquisition, not much to expect.

Screw our luck. Datysuk and Rafalski just got back from their injuries and both get reinjured last night (3/17/11) in the game against Columbus. It doesn't seem to be serious, but both with miss tomorrows game against Nashville and perhaps a few afterward.

Edit: Good new out of the Wings, looks like Rafalski will be playing tomorrow (3/19/11) after all.

Datsyuk is this teams MVP, they look barely above average without him. Our defense and offense just aren't nearly the same without him. There's not much sense in him rushing back though; so what if San Jose overtakes us? I'm not entirely sure if home ice is an advantage in our case.

These injuries are getting really annoying, it seems like a constant that past 3 years. Currently Bertuzzi, Datsyuk, Hudler, and Franzen are all out. The only good news is that they're all listed as day-to-day and should have them back within the next couple weeks.

I would've liked them for today's game against Vancouver.

Health and fitness are two different things. Training for back safety is a good, NO, let me re-phrase that, training for back safety is a great way to prevent accidents. Diet also plays a role as following an unhealthy diet will make anaerobic exercise even harder on your body.
