Statistically, his individual defense isn't much better than average, which doesn't really match with the eye-test, because his 1-on-1 defense looks really good. But his team defense is, without a doubt, one of the best in the league at either guard position.

I hope this works out of Spain. BTW, he said he looked at himself in the mirror one month after his injury and he understood he needed a diet

From a strictly 1 on 1 standpoint he is on the higher end of average. He's very good at anticipating and interupting passes. As a help defender he is one of the best in the league especially for a rookie. KG was great but what seperated his D from everyone else was he was probably one of the top 5 help defenders in league ever.

I was very impressed with Rubios D considering that was supposed to be suspect. As much as the wolves missed those open shots he was creating for them, his defense was probably a bigger loss.

He's always been an amazing help defender. Even as a 16 year old kid playing in the Euroleague he could change the course of a game with his defense, that's what made possible for him to get minutes at such a young age. His playmaking was also very good but his defense was something else, i had never seen anything like him in Europe.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

Rubio, who is fresh off a week long check-up with his surgeon in Vail, Colorado, has been cleared to run for the first time since tearing his ACL in March. This is obviously a step in the right direction and should add validity to his claim that he would like to return to game action by December.

:)

I've heard that he started to run last week in Vail, while the doctors checking his knee to find inflamation. It seems his knee was well and (I'm not a expert) this is a good thing for the rehab of the ACL injuries. Finally he was authorized to run but the timeline for his recover is still unknow. We still don't know if he only can run in a straight line or he can start to do lateral movements. :dontknow:

God I hope he can get back to full strength and stay healthy. It would be such a shame if more injuries cut short his career at all. Maybe I've just seen too many ACL tears.

Back running on his surgically repaired knee for the third week now, injured Timberwolves point guard Ricky Rubio stopped long enough Thursday at Target Center to show off three scars that stripe his left leg and said he could play his next NBA game by December, nine months after he tore two ligaments there.

"I don't know, they say December, but it could be January," he said. "I don't want to say a time because I don't want to rush it. I want to be ready when I am ready."

Rubio hasn't run and jumped and passed a basketball behind his back since he planted that left leg in a March 9 game against the Los Angeles Lakers and ended up in a heap, clutching his knee in pain.

"It has been a long time without running and dunking," he said. "Well, I never dunk, but just like try it. It's so hard to watch basketball knowing you can't play."

LOL, funny guy.
