Dec. 4 -- If you'd said before the season that I'd have Alexey Shved and Kyle Singler in my top four in December, I would have laughed.

But that's exactly where the pair lands this week, thanks to their steady play of late.

Shved has become one of Minnesota's most reliable perimeter players, especially with injuries to their two stars (Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love) and most recently as Chase Budinger (leg) and Andrei Kirilenko (back spasms) have been sidelined.

Shved continues to do a little bit of everything and has found his 3-point stroke of late, going 9-for-17 in the last three games.

1 Damian Lillard
2 Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
3 Kyle Singler
4 Alexey Shved

5 Harrison Barnes
6 Dion Waiters
7 Jeff Taylor
8 Anthony Davis
9 Jonas Valanciunas
10 Terrence Ross

Singler better player than Shved? ...

I've been following the Rookie Ladder this season and it's pretty obvious the guy didn't know anything about Shved so I guess it isn't too surprising.

Also, I was curious (and a little bored) so I made this graph showing the running average of his fg% and 3pt fg% throught the first 16 games:

NO surprise that some NBA expert hast those two guys as "surprise":

3 Kyle Singler
4 Alexey Shved

Actually those are NBA experts but not basketball experts.
This is "problem" of playing in Europe. NBA "experts" do not understand European basketball and underrate their players (soft, not quick enough, not strong enough, not good defending, blah, blah, blah).

Then reality comes and "surprise - surprise" the experts do recognize explicitly that do no have a clue about the game.

Shved might have been underrated because he played in Europe, but Singler spent 4 years at Duke, most American basketball fans are going to be familiar with him. It is surprising he is doing so well.

Singler has been very good, but I would imagine that if those ranking came out today then Shved might be 3 or 2.

We'd probably have 3 wins right now if it was not for Shved. He's been our MVP through the first 16 games.

Yeah, Shved's been a real difference maker ever since getting a haircut and helping key the comeback against Brooklyn. He's like a bizzaro Samson.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

I didn't wanted being disrespectful with Singler. He is a smart dude with a good behaviour.

In Spain, he played in a second row team and he was a star, and he signed with Real Madrid after this. He accepted the coach orders with a hard work at defense and selecting the shots.

But Shved would be in the first or second team of the Euroleague and Singler in the fifth or sixth team or something like this.

I love your sig :-D

And I agree, Shved has been an integral part in this team's success so far. Can't wait for Rubio to get back and make things easier for everybody.

When you're not a big team market like LA you have to find players elsewhere, and finding players like Shved in Russia is what teams like us need to do to be a contender because if we are going to draft like ****, we arent going to get anyone in free agency.

He is so big for us, I love him. He will be top in 3 rookies this season 100%. It wouldn't be a wonder if he becomes rookie of the season, Lillard just needs to slow down a little bit, and Shved just needs a bit better numbers, and he will get them with Rubio creating him more open looks and drives.

Is there a way to get Timofey Mozgov? How much does he earn a year?
I think he can be a decent backup C.
And Mozgov with Kirilenko and Shved, The Trio Russo 8-)

He's expiring, 2.8 mil $ this season. We'd have to get rid of Steamer or Lou to make that move. I don't know what we have to offer to the Nuggets to get him.

Wouldn't mind losing Lou. But Nuggets would likely want more and we shouldn't be helping them out for a 3rd-string Center.

This is something I've been toying with. He's the third center on the Nuggets and available, and here he'd probably be #2 .. and I think we could use him.

As an expiring, he shouldn't cost much in trade, but then again, DEN is our conference rival, so they may not want to make a move that helps us even slightly -- for slight returns.
