I've been shocked by his effectiveness in catch and shoot situations lately. He went from not being able to hit the broad side of the barn to nearly automatic. It would be really nice if it turned out to not just be a hot streak.

Yup. And he does nice cuts.

I'd rather have him than Courtney Lee, which is a very nice change in my point of view over the last season. Malcolm is developing nicely :)

We might have a really good 2-combo with Lee and Shved. Lee as the good defender that knocks down a couple of 3's and Shved being the 4th quarter closer that can create.

This season I've always thought M. Lee had a good shooting stroke, but he has been chucking it up too much unnecessary and losing confidence in the process. Lately he has started waiting for his chances where he is open and sinks 'em.

I know it's early, but when Lee was drafted, I made a thread comparing Lee to Afflalo.

Lee picks up a lot of stupid fouls, but sometimes it's just due to the inexperience, the vets are pulling some wily moves on young Lee and he falls for it.

If he could work on his corner 3 and his spot up shooting, we could have found a second round gem, i'm not going to put all my hopes on him being our 2-guard, though.

His finishing near the rim is really strange. Sometimes he looks great, and makes very athletic (maybe even acrobatic) moves and finishes, sometimes it looks painful. Hopefully experience pushes it to more of the former.

Courtney Lee seems like a good comparison for the player he could become.

I don't think he HAS to be our 2-guard though, especially if Shved is viewed as highly as I think he is. I like the Lee/Shved rotation.

He just doesn't pass the eye test for me. Ya he's young and ya it's his 1st year playing basically since he was hurt all last year. But he reminds me to much of Corey Brewer in that basketball looks like a foreign concept to him. He reminds me of a Jr high kid following the coaches every word down to the letter but not understanding how to incorporate that instruction into playing fluid basketball.

I said it last season and I still think we would be better off as a team to cut him and sign either a D league'r or another vet like Howard.

I think he still has room to grow. Considering how little experience he has, he's surprised me a bit with smart play (for being basically a rookie) and enough confidenece on both ends to be a plus player on most nights. He should be a valuable versatile backup and I think will play in the league quite a few years.

Over the last two weeks it seems both Lee and Derrick are starting to feel more comfortable in their roles.

if he is able to improve his defense and he hits consistently from 3ps , why not ? he could be a good/cheap beach player for us. we will see.

Malcolm needs to keep playing hard and keep taking open shots and he will be fine. I think Adelman likes him somewhat and he is our only guard defensive specialist so we have a need for him. Work on that shot and there is no reason to think he can't be an Avery Bradley or maybe even a Trenton Hassell type down the road. But I wont cry if he gets cut or traded thats for sure. Looks a little lost with the ball sometimes, shocked he was ever an elite recruit at PG spot as he looks unnatural dribbling the ball even if unpressured. But I like concept of Lee very much and he seems to get it so hopefully he can keep at it and carve out a niche on this team.

Lee's a boss. Been one of his biggest supporters the day he was drafted. Hopefully he can keep playing consistently...if Lee/Shved can develop into what we think then our team could be very very dangerous.

I have to admit that I was very high on Wesley Johnson and Malcolm. And now that I'm over Wesley I like what Lee has done so thus far, and even though Shved is hyped and I'm one that thinks very high of him as of now he is not playing better than Lee.so why all the Love for a player in Shved who is playing worse than Lee?

You do know that Corey Brewer is a good bench player in this league, do you?

really? like the 10 turnovers in the past 3 games? Shved only edges him in FT% and points. Shved looks scared out there and unless he gains muscle taps into that inner swagger and bring up his shooting % and lowers his turnovers I see him as a bench player.for whatever reason because of Shveds hype I've forgiven his mistakes (jump passing) and saw his across the court pass to Luke as great. But if it was done by say DWill it would have been a bad pass that luckily didn't get picked off in the air and Luke had to catch the ball at his ankles.

You must be trolling.

Shved has a significantly higher PER and TS. He's been both more productive and more efficient.
