Interesting, have to see what MN might want? Novak works, but do we want a long-term deal like that? IDK

I think we're missing the obvious. Two days ago, news broke that the Suns were willing to give up Jared Dudley if they could add Shumpert.

PHX OUT: Dudley
PHX IN: Shumpert + payroll savings

NYK OUT: Shumpert + Camby (out with platar fasciitis since Jan)
NYK IN: Ridnour + Steimsma

MIN OUT: Ridnour + Steimsma
MIN IN: Dudley + Camby

PHX gets their man, as requested.
NYK gets a better replacement for Shumpert and a usable center
MIN gets Dudley, and then waives Camby.

So most likely going to be Ridnour for Brewer if this rumor is true. **** but we might as well get rid of Luke to an actual team that can compete for a ring(for Lukes sake), plus we get an expiring contract to save some room for Bud/Pek.

Why would NY want Ridnour? They already have 3 PGs.

From everything I've read, Kidd is primarily SG now and they aren't happy with Prigioni.

Yes, and NYK is going to be paying triple on him in the lux tax next year. That's where the value for NYK comes from - they clear the salary, and get a roster spot if they want to use it on a vet min guy. Cheaper for us to dispose of the deal with the stretch provision and no lux.

I think its a deal to move Shumpert.

I understand NYK's value, but why is Minnesota supplying it? What are we getting to supply it? Dudley? No, he is not worth taking on Camby and the cap hit at the cost of Ridnour and an expiring.

I would argue Ridnour and Dudley are pretty even... Well, with a tad of incentive from Minnesota, Stiemsma and a 2nd or so, I guess I don't get why we are doing what the other teams don't want to without getting something back.

Dudley is a more than solid wing on a very good contract, more a SF than SG but can fill in there too. He's a much better fit than Ridnour so i don't think it's that far off unless it compromises future moves like re-signing Pek.
The Camby contract is ugly but last year is only partially guaranteed.

Forget that I am not parting with an asset (Ridnour) getting a similar asset (Dudley) then having to take on a bad contract like that, how Camby got 3yrs is beyond me. Count me out.

Dudley is a better asset (similar offensive production, but better shooting, younger, and better defense) and is a a much better fit.

The fact it's being rumored leads me to believe that Luke won't be going to NY. Anything this early and leaked seems to be opposite of what usually happens for us in Feb.

Better?

MIN GETS: Dudley
MIN GIVES: Ridnour + MEM 1st

NYK GETS: Ridnour + J O'Neal (exp) + MEM 1st
NYK GIVES: Shumpert + Kurt Thomas (exp) + James White (part guar)

PHX GETS: Shumpert + Kurt Thomas (exp) + James White (part guar)
PHX GIVES: Dudley + J O'Neal (exp)

NYK gets some more veteran experience for on short term deals, and PHX gets Shumpert and Thomas (expiring) and James White (2nd year only partially guaranteed) are cheap contracts even Sarver wouldn't blink at .. especially since the deal saves him $500,000. J O'Neal was having some attitude problems a few weeks ago too.

Dudley's skill-set and position seems like he would fit well with Adelman, particularly his 40% career 3-point shooting. I think we'd still re-sign Buddinger cheap.

Dudley: $4.25 mil/year fixed through 2016 (2016 is Dudley's choice ETO)
