Philly trades Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes

For

Derrick Williams, Jose Barea and Greg Stiesma.



Timberwolves get a big young shooting guard with a allaround game with a desire o be great. HAwes a young skilled center who is very coachable.

Sounds good to me. Hawes' contract will be off the books after next season too and he serves as a solid C off the bench.

I like the value. I'd be worried bringing in Hawes at 6.5 mil gives the Wolves an excuse to let Pekovic walk though.

Trade doesn't move mountains for me...which I think Kahn needs to do for many reasons...rather then debate that here, I will say yes to this trade.

I think Wolves would seriously need to consider offers for Pek if they did this trade. Find an uber athletic 4/5 and depth at SF for Pek.

Pek and Hawes could share the court no problem. Hawes is like Love-lite.

There's one player in that starting lineup that I'd trust to consistently hit an open jumper, and he'll be recovering from a broken hand.

It's not ideal, but if that's the best offer we can get for Williams, I think you have to pull the trigger. Of course, Kahn should be exploring for better options but we're not going to shed any tears losing JJ, DWill, and Steamer if we're getting Turner back. I'm more of a fan of the 2014 FA so Hawes wouldn't be an issue.

RA can sub in Shved & Budinger as well. Move Turner to PG and let he & Shved handle the ball, instead of Ridnour/JJ.

Honestly, if that's the best we can do for Williams, I'd probably do it, but I think I'd try to turn it into a 3 team deal where Turner goes somewhere else and a decent 3 point shooter goes to Minnesota (Reddick? Danny Green? Dudley?).

I kind of doubt that Williams to Philly trade would ever come up in the real world, though, since they already have Thad Young.

Yeah not sure what Philly would do with Williams. A 3-way deal would make the most sense.

I think I've changed my mind. The Philly room is talking about trading Turner for a sack of potatoes. I don't think I like trading Williams for a .480 TS% ball-dominant wing unless his defense is very good. I would rather trade Williams or even Williams and a pick for a Dudley then take on an inefficient scorer who's value is being a ball dominant passing wing

It's a shame D-Will got exposed as a player in need of serious development. We could have gotten a lot of good stuff for him back in the day

The same is said of most early picks. Most lose value with their potential, and a few turn into the players we all hope.

I think he has more value than most Wolves fans think though, as Williams is improving and put up decent numbers for a 2nd year player still learning the NBA. Pretty ideal for a rebuilding team wanting to develop youth and grab another pick or 2 in the lotto.

I would say the same thing about Sixers fans and Turner, who you cited as a reason to not trade Williams for Turner. He's putting up 14/7/5. Those are good numbers alongside a ball-dominant PG in Holiday.

Shved has the same age and height than Turner and he will be better player, and if we want athleticism, then why did we trade Wes? Turner averaged 9 ppg in 26 min and Wes 6 ppg in 22.

Talking about the team, really this is Barea+Stiesma x Hawes. I think this isn't the trade we need.

I think D. Williams has significantly more value for a few reasons.
1) Williams is improving
2) 3 years younger
3) far more athletic
