with the trade and wiggins and bennet being on the roster what does the cap situation look like? it seems like we might have too many players

Re: Minnesota Timberwolves Cap Space Reference Chart
So I was bored and I created my own spreadsheet. Then I made a sheet about how a Thad trade could affect our salary cap
I created possible trades involving Bennett,Bazz, our expirings(Barea,Moute,Shved),Bud,Martin and Brew
the best trades are the one that gives us roster space, doesnt makes us go over the luxury cap and room for remaining MLE or MLE and TPE
We have about 2.6 million wiggle room before hitting lux cap
assuming a Bennett Wiggins for Love is done
and Young is the only salary coming to us
OUTGOING SALARIES
1) Bennett any expiring, and Bennett one of Martin,Bud, and Brew doesnt make us go over the lux cap. But the Bennett Shved gives us small wiggle room. about 2.3 million
But the other ones,we can use the 1.5 MLE and TPE too and still be about 2M under lux cap
Also it makes our roster to 15.
2) Bazz any combination of 2 expirings works perfectly. Gives us 3M to 4M under lux cap.
We can freely use the remaining MLE and/or sign GR3
Makes our roster to 14
3) 3 of our expirings gives us 5.6M under the lux cap. Makes our roster to 14
4) Bazz Martin works too. But gives us very small wiggle room. about 2.2M before going over the lux cap and makes our roster to 15

Re: Minnesota Timberwolves Cap Space Reference Chart
I have questions
1)Does buying out Shved offset his salary in our salary cap?
2) When will Cunningham's cap hold be removed?

1. Yes
2. Whenever Minnesota renounces his bird rights or another team signs him.

Re: Minnesota Timberwolves Cap Space Reference Chart
I was looking at MIN's cap reference and it looks pretty balanced. The total could be slightly lower but it's ok.
Then i looked at PHI's. WTF is this. Highest payed player is J.Richardson (who doesn't play at all) and 2nd highest is LMM. :SMH:

Re: Minnesota Timberwolves Cap Space Reference Chart
Philly will still pay up...
http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q15
15. Is there a minimum amount each team must pay its players?
There is a minimum team salary, which for this purpose includes the salaries of players who were amnestied, or suffered a career-ending injury or illness, and excludes all cap holds. The team salary must be at or above a defined percentage of the salary cap on the date of the team's last regular season game:
2014-15 - 90% of the cap - $56.759 million
Teams with a team salary below the minimum are surcharged for their shortfall, with the money distributed among the players on that team.

Re: Minnesota Timberwolves Cap Space Reference Chart
As expected, it looks like the cap will be at least $80 million in 2016/17...

http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Jour ... media.aspx
Talks have progressed so rapidly that details are emerging on a massive agreement that would see the league’s annual rights fee more than double, with ESPN and Turner combining to pay more than $2 billion per year on average. One source said ESPN already has committed to pay “well over” $1 billion per year, and Turner is not far behind for a media rights extension that would kick in with the 2016-17 season.
As part of the current eight-year deals that end in June 2016, ESPN pays $485 million per year and Turner pays $445 million per year on average...

9 years, $24 Billion... the cap may be heading to $90+ million.

The N.B.A. will receive $24 billion over nine years in deals the league has renewed with ESPN and TNT through the 2024-25 season, according to an executive briefed on the details of the contracts but not authorized to speak publicly.
The deals, which will be announced Monday, represent a near-tripling of the annual average rights fees that ESPN and TNT have been paying in contracts that will end after the 2015-16 season.
The average yearly payments will rise from about $930 million to $2.66 billion.

Re: Minnesota Timberwolves Cap Space Reference Chart
This trade cleared up about 5.5 mil this season and roughly 4 mil next season.
