Can you afford to start either of them against a tall front court like the Bulls with Gasol and Noah?

We could move Dieng to PF I guess, but he looks like a full time centre to me.

Thad Young can move well and is strong so I think he can start despite his height. He's not going to overwhelm Pau Gasol but for what this team is, it isn't bad either way.

I would like to think that Young will be matched up against more athletic and less offensively skilled Noah in that case and Pek vs Pau. Then only team that can really be a problem is Memphis since we play then 4 times and maybe San Antonio but Flip can throw Dieng/Pek at them.

That's the thing, though, if he waits for the new CBA, he could get way more money + long contract.

Also, I seriously doubt that he'd get much, if any, more money than $10 mil a year (under the current CBA) regardless of how he plays. He's just too limited a player.

Channing Frye and Marvin Williams got 7-8 mil deals. I think there is a chance he might test the market if he plays decent, but any way you cut it, wolves only win when Thad Young elevates like Gerald Green did and resigns with team friendly contract. Even with a great outlier year, it's going to be difficult to offer a big long term contract because you wonder whether it was a one year shooting fluke as it was for Gay or Granger, not to mention Rubio's deal is coming up. Hopefully Flip handles it as masterfully as he did with the Cavs trade.

Yeah, and I would expect that Young will get similar offers.

Yep, that's his range.
But he has been stuck in Philly, he may play better here next to Pek...

He was not in game shape last season but seems to have lost a lot of weight.

We should get McHale back to work with him as soon as he is fired from the Rockets this season.

Absolutely not. I don't want McFail anywhere near this franchise again, he has done nothing but hurt this team.

He is great at developing bigs. Doesn't have to do anything else.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Trade Thad Young, Kevin Martin, Corey Brewer, and Chase Budinger to New Orleans for Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon

Then Flip can sign GRIII and Brady Heslip

0 chance or sense ...really ....

If Ryan Anderson and Eric Gordon are healthy (which they reportedly are) I don't see why either team would pull the trigger. With Davis emerging there won't be much minutes for Anderson, Young is better suited as a sixth man , and the pelicans just sign JOHN SALMONS old ass, they need depth on the wings and shooting , this trade works and makes both teams better.
