Is it really that surprising to see a former nba player beat a current nba player?

Shooting is all about repetition and a long time nba player just has way more practice time on his clock than a 2nd year player.

this slow start is frustrating to see. it is alright if you dont score 20, but he is also not rebounding, no assists too. the steals and blocks have also declined from last year. he had a great summer with canada, but he had a horrible preseason and 3 bad games so far against poor teams. so i am a little worried

I think the back is bothering him more than he is letting on. If you look at his attacks at the rim, he no longer leans in and bursts to the hoop anymore. Its more like a weak upright take at the rim where the slightest contact disrupts him.

Wiggs isnt the most expressive guy, so I wonder how much he is holding in. Flip meant alot to him, you can see how he's been in the interviews about Flip choosing him to be the next one to lead the franchise when he was brought over. Wiggs could be putting a lot of weight on his shoulders and trying to do too much.

I think so, most 20 year old people don't have much experience with death. I could see it was getting to Gorgui and Bazz. Towns had his father with him on the road trip, he seemed to handle it best. Wiggins and Zach have both seemed off... that was a lot of stress to handle over the past week. It's hard enough to deal with death when your older and your job isn't televised.

Sam Mitchell was a pretty incredible midrange shooter.

That was his calling card.
What would you pay a guy putting up 18 and 11 in the playoffs?

I will be very disappointed if by the end of his career Ricky won't play a few NBA finals. And if he doesn't become a coach afterwards.

Shooting is like riding a bike imo. I haven't played much real ball in years and yesterday I rallied off 20 straight foul shots, reminiscent of my high school days. I'll bet that Larry Bird would still smoke both Wiggins and Sam Mitchell :)

Spot on.

It's so easy to forget how young these guys are sometimes and to but yourself into their position and understand how they'd be feeling/coping with something like this.

Especially in the case of Wiggy, not only has he had this massive weight of expectation on him to be the next generational player for years, he then gets traded to a Franchise where coupled with that expectation he's now expected to be the leader and best player of that team moving forward. A new season starts and the man who had the faith in him to bring him here to be that guy is suddenly gone, so now he's got to cope with that, plus, his body's hurting and at the moment he can't seem to get it to do what he wants it to do.

Kid needs some time and patience.

Rubio calls out someone for being lazy in media, he's an amazing leader. Love does something similar, and he's labeled a bad leader and teammate by the same fans. Irony

Wiggins and JJ/Dante have different personalities. You need to light a fire under Wiggins because he is passive at times. Also Wiggins is a 2nd year player. I have no problem with Rubio who is a leader both on and off court making a constructive remark towards one of the younger guys who needs direction.

Why not tell him in private? Why embarrass him through the media?

Because it is not really an embarrassment? Please go read the entire post instead of just the title.

Nice to see they are practicing the number 1 timberwolves shot - right inside of the 3 point line. :banghead:
