Game 1: Timberwolves at Grizzlies (7 p.m., FSN)

Post#1 » by Klomp » Wed Oct 29, 2014 5:10 am

Flip and Rubio return...

Image

And they brought a few new friends

Image

But don't forget Billy the Goat!

Image

No, not him, that's Billy's owner....ah, nevermind. Easy mistake to make

Who is the mastermind behind this nonsense? Show yourself!

Image

Seriously, are you listening to anything I say?

Image

That's it! I'm calling the reinforcements.

It's not like starting at home brought us much luck the past 10 years...

A 3rd ball that grew out when he decided to wait it out on the Love trade.

All I want to see is that we make it a close game, compete, etc., tonight.

And I believe we will.

We made need Bennett to play extra minutes to combat Randolph defensively.

That's really impressive.

I'm too lazy to look it up right now and I really don't care that much if anyone else could be bothered to check whether it's true or not but in the mid 2000's it seemed we opened up season by playing the Kings every year. It almost felt like a running gag to me.

And because I'm not really that sure about what I just wrote I discourage anyone to look that up.

Overall speaking, no, but I remember the game threads on opening night. In some of them the general tone was like "Before the season started, I knew this team was unbeatable" yadda yadda. Again, I'm too lazy to look it up but contrary to the season records over the last few years our record on opening nights haven't been that bad from what I recall.

I remember we have done pretty well on opening night and that has led to some falseo hope on my part. Excited to watch as I thought I'd be out of town for the opener, but that's for tomorrow's game.

Memphis gives us a lot of trouble so should be an interesting game.

I know we should not expect a lot, but hey! The Wolves are back :D
Supporting Minnesota teams from Spain since Ricky Rubio was "impressive" at the airport.

Openers going back to '02-'03:

'03: v. Denver (W 83-77)
'04: v. Milwaukee (W 95-89)
'05: v. NY (W 99-93)
'06: v. Portland (W 90-86)
'07: v. Sacto (W 92-83)
'08: v. Denver (L 99-91)
'09: v. Sacto (W 98-96)
'10: v. NJ (W 95-93)
'11: v. Sacto (L 117-116)
'12: v. OKC (L 104-100)
'13: v. Sacto (W 92-80)
'14: v. Orlando (W 120-115)
'15: @ Memphis

So in our last 12 openers (all at home obviously), we're 9-3, 4-3 since KG left. We played the Kings in odd seasons since '07, this year breaks that pattern.

our frontcourt will get tested early against Memphis(Gasol-Zach),Detroit(Monroe-Drummond-Smith) and Chicago(Noah-Gibson-Gasol)
Pek and Dieng need to watch their fouls especially Turiaf is in the inactive list (Because Hummel. That is all)
