Last year we thought we were going to have the most exciting season yet but as often is the case with the wolves, things did not go nearly as well as we hoped. Some of the bright spots were Kevin Love's random blow up games and the emergence of the +/- warrior, Gorgui Dieng.
Kevin Love is gone now however, and with him goes the potential for huge blow up nights of positive points. In his place however, we have a litany of eager young players who can truly make this the most unpredictable and exciting season yet. 7 years going and no signs of stopping (when will it end!?), the 2015 "Who ya Got!?" +/- game is backin full force!
With the assortment of new pups added to this roster, we could have major swings in the +/- realm. You will have to be on your A game or very lucky, to win this season.
Let's go over how the game is played for the uninitiated and let's review our world renown and respected history:
As always anyone can join in on the fun at anytime and take their shot at being a winner. There is no long term commitment. Stop in and make a pick for one week, one game, or all season! It doesn’t matter. Every season people play as much as they want.
When reviewing last season's +/- I noticed some interesting trends. The season always starts out hot with lots of participation, the first 3 or 4 weeks take nearly a third of the whole game thread. Then the final several weeks are all played out in a few pages. I also get noticeably lazier in my updates as time goes on. That changes this year, I shall be just as lazy from the start as I will be in the end, that's my promise to you! Last season it was a pretty close race until the last stretch of weeks. One man managed to continually win and win and win and it launched him about the mediocrity, above other greats who have played this game, and straight into the 2014 championship winners circle. SOUTHERN WOLF
Congratulations! You sir have taken the crown from the previous champion Klomp and you are not the reigning, defending, supreme champion of this game! Southern won it with just 5 wins. 5 wins of greatness is all it takes to be the champion for the year. This is why it pays off to be a diligent, dedicated player! Will Southern be the first time two time champion in this game's history? Will a new hero emerge to take the title again this year? Throw your hat into the fray and let's see who comes out on top.
Some important information for those new to this game.
The Game: Playing the +/- game is simple. You pick any player before the game and you watch them play. Anything that player scores above his average gives you + points. Anything the player scores below his average give you - points. The goal is to have the most + points by the end of the week. Whoever has the most points by the end of the week is the weekly winner.
Example: You pick Andrew Wiggins and he goes off for 27points. Since Wiggins averages 7 PPG you would get +20 for that night. Conversely if Wiggins played and got 1 point, you would get -6.
Important Rules and Guidelines:
-You can change your pick at anytime before the game*
*(You can not change your player if he is already started playing.)
-Numbers WILL NOT be rounded. If a player is averaging 19.9 PPG it will count as 19.
-If you pick a player and they do not play you get 0 points, you don't lose or gain anything.
-You can pick any number of "insurance" players if you are unsure if your player will play.
-Do not make your picks for the next days games until after the current game is finished.
-The Calrissian rule: This rule states that any player who is coming back from injury or newly signed and has yet to play a game and thus has zero points to their average, cannot be used until they have at least 3 games under their belt.
- The sudden death rule: This rule states that in the event of a tie during the the final win tally of the season, the champion with the most total point number with their wins, wins the year, the other champion gets a runner up title. If the totals of both competitors happens to be the same, then well, I'll figure something else out
-You can not request one player for multiple games. Eg: You can't say "Give me Rubio for the week.
What can I tell you veterans of this game that you don't already know? Many of you have been playing this game for 7 years. What I will say to any new players is this; go with your heart, pick the player that speaks to your soul and never look back. With the bevy of new players we have now this will be a very interesting season. who will be the monsters of +/- this year?
