Thad Watch
Looks like Thad's coming out of his offensive slump. If he keeps it up he might be able to play well enough to opt out. This thread was created for two reasons:
1.) Speculate whether we want him to stay as the season progresses.
2.) Speculate whether he will stay or leave.

It'll be interesting to see if we play him at SF more like we did tonight

Re: Thad Watch
My thoughts: it looks like he passes ball more (Flip uses him as point forward), shoots less long jumpers.
P.S. I saw one interesting statistic which showed that Thad is pretty efficient when he shoots hooks

I'm happy he's playing well, been a rough year for him.
That said, I hope we trade him for some sort of value.

Re: Thad Watch
I don't know what to do with Thad.
I would still trade MIA's pick for him (non-lottery pick).
I would prefer if we gave Bennett instead of the pick but what's done is done.
I don't want to give Thad for just an irrelevant expiring.
I don't want to see Bennett play at all, and Dieng at PF is not a solution. I can't believe i am saying that, without Hummel i am not trading Thad if the return isn't someone who can play starting minutes PF.

This season is already over. We could sign a street level FA to put in minutes at PF. I agree completely that Dieng is not a PF solution but if a team is willing to trade us a pick for Thad we should take it.

Re: Thad Watch
This season is far from over. Wiggins hit the rookie wall. Big part is because we don't have a PG, we don't have a structure, we don't have a system. Lavine is playing worse week by week.
If we what to see some development we need to play some basketball that makes sense.
Just look our starting lineup. Mo who is more SG than PG is playing PG, Wiggins a SF plays SG, Thad a PF plays SF, Dieng a C plays PF. I won't even comment our bench.
If we continue this path i wouldn't be surprised if Wiggins stops developing (common for MIN young players).
As i wrote a couple weeks ago, Dieng is worse than last year (at least in some major parts of his game), Bennett is same as last year (terrible), Lavine shows zero growth and only Bazz plays better than last year (and i am not sure if it's because he learned few things or because Adelman simply didn't gave him the chance).
p.s. Young for a late 1st and signing a PF for the minimum would be fine with me.

I don't think he's a part of the future -- some of it his fault and some of it is not. I don't think his skill set is a great and the rest of the team (obv) is just too far away.

I think Thad could provide vet leadership for this young team. He is definitely a super hard work and good locker-room guy.

I'd rather trade Bennett than Thad if we can get anything for him.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

Sad to say it, but his play during the injuries to Rubio, Pek and Martin, showed pretty clearly that he's a follower, not a leader on court.

Re: Thad Watch
He hasn't been as bad as some people here make out, especially before the death in his family. He was arguably our best player up to that point. I think he just got a bit too selfish with Rubio, Pek and Martin out. He tried too hard to lead the team and put up 20 shots a night. With everyone healthy he understands his role a bit better and blends in.

Re: Thad Watch
I've been very disapointed in Thad. What is he? A stretch 4? No, he can't hit the 3. Is he a classic 4? Surely not in the West, where he's simply too small. Is he a 3? I suppose, but I'm not thrilled with him playing the 3 for us.
What does he do well? Shoot? No. Pass? Nah. Defend? Doesn't seem interested. Rebound? See defense. He can't use his right hand, which is stunning. His shot is so slow and right now he has zero confidence outside of 10ft. He can make some "nifty" moves/finishes in the paint, but he has to catch it back/right shoulder to basket. Zero confidence at the FT line as well. Bball is a confidence game and, right now, he has none.
It's hard to believe he played on the 76ers bc he looks like a guy who always played on a winner and is now just going through the motions bc he's on a losing team.
Longterm: What to do? I believe there are two options: 1. Keep him and his overpaid contract and continue to watch him get outplayed in the west. 2. Deal him, which would bring a underwhelming pick/player in return.
I would go with option two and target either target a 4 in the draft (K-AT, KP), target a 4 in free agency, or start the year w/ Payne/AB/Rob.

Re: Thad Watch
Thad is not the answer. We gave up way to much for him. Even if the squad would have been healthy the whole year, I have not been impressed with his game. I mean even if we were paying him without giving up a pick, I don't like his game. Yeah he put up numbers last year on a team just as bad as ours. I don't even think he is worth a couple of 2nd rounders and we would have to eat a bad contract.

Thats like saying Ricky Rubio's jumper is looking like Ray Allen's as of late.
You can check stats.

Thomas is good option, but ideally I'd like to see more defense, more playmaking from backup PG. Also his contract isn't bargain.
