So he should just freelance, disrupting spacing and timing, in order to force selfish Martin to quit going 1 v 5 and jacking up contested jumpers?

I think Flip calls fewer plays designed for Martin to put up a shot than you think. Wiggins has to earn that you can look for your shot even if a play isn't designed for you.

My issue with this is that it only works when the team transitions into their Motion Offense, but the team pretty much always starts the possession with a set play, and often, that set play involves Wiggins standing in a corner.

If the first action when crossing the half-court line is a pass to Martin, that to me indicates that Flip is calling a set play to Martin. That happens A LOT. The play might now always be designed start-to-finish for Martin, but if he gets the ball first, he'll selfishly call his own number more often than not.

Well, I mean he has a pedigree of doing that. Am I using that word right? Anyway, the dude has done this for almost every team he's played for. I don't understand why his slight increase in doing it for the Wolves would warrant any alarm. We knew what to expect.

You mean something along these lines?

Courtesy of MSPaint, by me.

You pull that out in a game that Martin has 9 assists?

LOL, all of those were just instant shots. They were at the beginning of the shot clock. Gorgui's first three jumpers go in that category.

Are you talking about Flip or Martin? If Martin, we're not alarmed that he's doing it, we're just annoyed that Flip is running plays to Martin instead of Wiggins, which means that Wiggins is getting fewer shots than he should.

Fun fact:

Andrew Wiggins' FG attempts per game for:
1st 26 games = 10.6
The 27 games from the CLE game until All Star break (his "hot streak") = 14.1
The last 16 games since All Star break = 14.3

Martin "stealing" his shot attempts is not the problem.

What's his problem then?

Well, yeah. Flip's crappy offensive system is the problem.

It's ridiculous that they're listing Hamilton as out with a 'headache'. I mean, at least try and pretend you're not sitting players out to tank. I'm sure Rubio and Bennett could be playing right now too. Bennett's been out a lot longer than scheduled. KG too.

Maybe that's the catch with Hamilton. Massively chronic headaches. These injureis are maddening, I am just bracing myself for next season to see who gets hit with the Sophomore curse. Wiggins, Payne, Lavine? All three?

I don't think Bennett playing would hinder any tanking. It's those Garnett and Rubio guys that would result in wins

He took a knee to the back of his head, that's not a traditional headache.

Is that what it is? That makes a little more sense. Seems like they would be talking about concussion protocol, though, or at least saying neck strain or something rather than headache.
