I would rank them Jeorger>Thibs>JVG>Malone. All are good candidates.

If we can't judge him on his stint in Sacramento, what other head coaching experience can we judge him on?

I didn't say not to judge him, but it's hard to hold it against him when he had that team playing above expectations(they were picked around 30 wins, would of been on pace for ~40), and they faultered when their best player missed a chunk of time.

Yea, me too exactly.
Joerger at the top because he's accomplished and built his philosophy in the 21st century. I have no big concerns with him.

Thibs seems like a worker. No nonsense guy that's going to keep at it until the desired results are achieved. Might be bordering on a being a dickhole though. Also, he doesn't have a neck...kinda suspect.

JVG has had great results defensively and seems like a guy that players would like playing for. Time at the announcer table watching and breaking down the best teams in the NBA might have brought some fresh ideas too. Never really put anything together other than that 1 year in NY though. On the flip-side, the talent on his Houston teams was very unimpressive outside of Tmac/Yao, and they were always injured.

Malone I'm not huge on. He seemed to be on board with the trade for Derrick Williams, which should be an automatic red flag. His track record doesn't seem that impressive to me either. One bad season for sure and his claim to fame was that the King were in the neighborhood of .500 and Demarcus Cousins seemed to like him. But who knows with Cousins, maybe he liked Malone because he let him do whatever he wanted. I know he's got some innovative ideas on offense though and Rudy Gay perked up on his watch. In the end while I don't want a total retread, I'd like a little more of a track record.

Joerger would be great if Memphis really decides to cut him loose, which seems unlikely.

I would be on board for getting some fresh blood. Definitely don't want someone who is old and set in their ways(JVG-meh). Feel like we'd play way too slow for my liking with Tibs, though his upgrade to our defense would be nice.

Joerger and JVG play slow too. JVG is oldschool, but I get the feeling that he is willing to adapt. He was known to adjust his defensive schemes to personnel.

Joerger head coach. Thibs the defensive coach. Malone with development. JVG as the third man on commentary.

What's the scoop on JB Bickerstaff? Maybe he could bring some Morey magic here.

I would be in favor. Seems like I'm in the minority though.

Since Hoiberg has been ripped from my dreams I'd take Mike Brey and hire Malone as my defensive specialist. I loved what ND looked like at the end of the year. As bad as college ball has been to watch this year, ND was a breath of fresh air.

I like JB, I think he is one of the few younger coaching prospects I would be interested in.

I wonder when Ime Udoka will start getting head coaching buzz. He's been on Pop's coaching staff for 3 years now and is a young guy who was a very tough defensive player.

Merc this quote is for you:

Mannix: Do you hear from coaching agents often?

Saunders: "Last year I probably talked to 12 coaches. A lot of people probably weren’t aware. I’m not one to advertise. I’ve done the same thing as far as numerous coaches this year. It might not be for right now, but it could be down the road. I’m constantly in the evaluation process for coaches."

Just because it isn't advertised, doesn't mean he isn't looking.

So, i was correct, Flip isnt look to hire anyone for the "right now".
I find intresting that after 12+12=24 coachs which he spoke he hasnt found the "right one" for the "right now".

Or lets all just ignore the fact that a lot you guys said that Flip didnt hired anyone so far because: (Main reasons)

1. Nobody wants to come here.
2. He didnt found the "right coach"

When the main reason is "It might not be for right now, but it could be down the road."

And you are ignoring that you have been saying he hasn't been trying or talking to anybody when we've been telling you that he talks to coaches behind the scenes.

I do agree at this point he's not interested in getting a replacement for this year. BUT he DID make a concerted effort last year before taking over the job after all his main candidates declined AND he's been keeping in touch with guys like Thibs and Van Gundy for next year.
