Trade thread (fans of other teams welcome)

Post#1 » by cpfsf » Wed May 20, 2015 7:27 pm

our current depth chart
pekovic dieng
#1 KG payne bjelica bennett
wiggins muhammad budinger
martin lavine
rubio

1 = you can have them. 5 = unlikely to be traded
5 - rubio wiggins #1
4 - lavine muhammad
3 - martin bjelica dieng
2 - payne
1 - bennett pekovic budinger

Notes
bjelica is a 27 year old euro we stashed. he is not signed to any contract
bennett and budinger are expiring contracts
most fans and analysts predict towns will be our pick
KG is FA, but we expect him to re-sign
the team can still use the MLE to make one upgrade in the backcourt or on bjelica
players i listed in 3 and 4 could be swapped. don't overthink this one. make a pretend offer, and we might even pretend accept

Needs
upgraded backcourt
future picks are always nice
kevin martin is getting old, lavine is not a point guard, and rubio can't play 48 minutes every day.
not a quick bandaid fix that gets us treadmill team status

I might be wrong, but I also believe that we need to use our MLE to be able to retain our TPE. So we may look to take on short term salary in a trade or wait till free agency.

Saw the earlier thread in the news list about the Wolves trading the 1st.

I always thought Paul George and #9 could be something worth looking into.

Maybe: Wolves send: #1, #31, #35, Bazz, Dieng, Martin, Bennett, Payne for
Paul George, George Hill, and #9

Rubio/LaVine/Wiggins/George/Cauley-Stein?
Hill/(Neal??)/FA(KJ McDaniels?)/KG(Bjelica)/Pek

Provided George can actually stay healthy.

Not a chance Wolves would do this

Its more constructive to give reasons, than to just say no way. The way I see you're getting a superstar at 50 cents on the dollar. That and a possible lineup ready to contend, with all the fat trimmed and a really young core. With veterans off the bench.

#1 for Embiid and 2016 unprotected pick from Philly?

Philly gets #1 and #3 this year

Minny gets Embiid/Wiggins and two top picks next year.

That would be really interesting. I think the Wolves need to stay put and draft Towns or Okafor. Pair one with Wiggins. Probably struggle one more year, growing pains, then start to contend for the next decade.

If Philly would have won the lottery it would have been chaos. They would have had to make a move. I think everyone stays put Except the Lakers if they can get Cousins. I don't even see the Knicks moving their pick. Russell or Mudiay would be good for them. I know they would want to I just don't see who they would get thou.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...

That's a lot to give for a guy who plays the same position as the best player on our team. Plus this makes us extremely weak at PF. Love George (both of 'em) but it's not something I'd do.

#5 + Nikola Vucevic for #1

Not sure of your cap situation. You can send back contracts if you need to. Vucevic signed a new extension $12M per year for 4 years. Very affordable price. Thoughts?

I think Philly says no.

They will get the guy they want anyways in either Russell or Mudiay. And a healthy Embiid is better than anyone in this draft.

However, It would be great for Jojo and Wiggs to team up again because they are the best of friends and they work well together.

Actually the Pacers have been trying to move George to the 4. He fits the build defensively.

Agreed. I'd think about it though. Embiid is a better prospect then Towns or Okafor, IMO. Just the injuries have to worry you a bit.

Remove Dieng, Hill and I'd do it. George and Wiggins at SF&SG is very promising combo. Grant Hill and T-Mac should have formed similar in Orlando. George should not be moved to PF, especially after that injury. WCS will go before #9, Draft Kaminsky or Turner

Dieng/Turner/Pek
Bjelica/KG/Hummel
George/Wiggins/Bud
Wiggins/LaVine/FA
Rubio/FA/Brown

Starting unit with 4 good passers!

I just don't see us making any big trades or signings until we give these guys a year to grow and gel.

Still doesn't hurt to speculate though.

Flip also said he doesn't plan on trading the pick. He said having the opportunity to have a guy for 8 years and grow with the team is too good to pass up.

no trade for embiid works... simply because if philly is willing to trade him means his injuries are terrible/10

If the Wolves take KAT ( like him at PF, but not at C)

Denver wants to play faster while the Wolves want to play smashmouth.

Denver gets Lavine + (Bennet or Payne or neither)
Minny gets Nurkic + (Harris or neither)

Nurkic/Dieng
KAT/KG
Wiggs/Bazz
Martin/Harris
Rubio/LoBro

Might have to throw in more because I dont think Lavine has the value of Nurkic. But I think it fits both teams. Lavine can put up some monster points in a fast paced game and his defense becomes less of an issue in transition. They can grab a C that better fits the speed game in WCS with the 6th.

Lawson
Lavine
Chandler
Faried
