Lynx already have the best record in the league before making this trade

Never heard of her, but sounds like a good trade since she was an allstar, right?

Considered one of the best centers in the WNBA. Two-time all-star and Olympic gold medalist. DPOY twice. College teammate of Seimone Augustus for two years.

Back in the finals!

Lynx are pretty decent to watch. It's hard to watch other WNBA teams but the Lynx do it right.

Good show them some love. They been doing a great job in recent years.

So I just read a bit about the WNBA....is it common that WNBA players play overseas once the season is finished? Moore, Taurasi and Parker all seem to play for international clubs, too. Aren't WNBA teams pissed if their star players comes back injured from playing overseas?

Yea its common but they get paid very well over there and for some the WNBA is the secondary team as financially their overseas team is more important. WNBA isn't at the NBA level.

Some Russian team actually paid Taurasi to not play in the WNBA.

That's crazy. Are the WNBA players paid that badly?

Yep

Here's a comp to put things in perspective

Taurasi salary (Phoenix): $107,000 (max)
Taurasi salary (Russia): $1,500,000

107K is the max? You can't even make that little of a salary in the NBA. I know its the economics but its a joke that some scrub like Lazar Hayward who isn't nearly as skilled as a Taurasi gets paid 200 times more than her to sit on a bench. I wish the WNBA was a heathier business, lots of those players should be making millions. Wonder what female soccer players in the states make.

Women sports is a joke, 107k is far from a little salary... That's good money, no matter where you're from..

I was going to disagree with the above comment, but this should probably be addressed first, haha. All because the level of competition is much lower does not make some a "joke"; that is a really silly perception to have.

That said, the reason the maximum is $107,000 is that the WNBA simply is not bringing in revenue, the league cannot afford to raise the maximum salary. I am really, really tired, so I will just post a video that delves into the subject, haha.

Put Lazar in the WNBA and he would be the MVP every year , he is a vastly better basketball player than Taurasi so why shouldn't he earn more than her?

Correct. It's important to remember the WNBA is still relatively young. How much were NBA players making in the league's 19th season (1965)?

LOL if he couldn't beat her up in the paint Prime Taurasi would ball on his chin. XD

I hope the WNBA grows though. Are they under the same umbrella of the NBA? Does the NBA chip in financially? The good thing is as little as they can afford to pay players, WNBA teams still get to air games on TV and get good coverage.
