Any chance of drafting Brook Lopez?

Post#1 » by randomhero423 » Mon Jun 23, 2008 8:51 pm

Lopez only worked out with the Sonics and T-Wolves. I can assume he has a promise to one of those teams, and SEA already have 3-4 young centers. Do you think (not hope), that there's any possiblity of drafting Brook with the 3rd pick?

sure there's a big hope because the Wolves are obviously keying in on a center since like 80% of the player's we've worked out have been centers...personally my Brook Lopez train has lost a bit of steam as I've become more enamored with trying to figure out all the cool ways to incorporate Michael Beasley or Kevin Love onto my favorite team

No chance whatsoever at 3. Plenty of chance they take him after trading down.

As mentioned by others, there is a chance, allbeit quite slim, that we draft B. Lopez.

Most likely scenario if he ends up on the team is a trade down.

I think teams are finding out that he's an all-around solid player, but does nothing extremely well. He'll be a solid role player, but its hard to see him getting significantly better.

Nobody's talking about Lopez for two weeks.

He's dropped to ninth in a number of recent mocks. MIN would be foolish not to grab someone more valuable with the #3.

If McHale wants to kill my interest in this team that would be the perfect way to do it.
That or the horrible Charlotte trade for Adam "Pellet Gun" Morrison.

I'm pretty sure he worked out for Memphis too. He only worked out for the 3-5 teams.

Breakdown of Wolves/Bobcats theoretical rumor:

Adam Morrison/Sean May/#9 to MN - Wolves acquire rights to center Brook Lopez.
Marko Jaric/#3 to Charlotte - Bobcats acquire rights to guard O.J. Mayo.

Objective: Rid Jaric's contract. Add depth. Draft Center.

Wolves 10 player:
PG = Foye/Telfair
SG = McCants/Brewer
SF = Gomes/Morrison
PF = Jefferson/May
C = Lopez/Richard
Other = Draft pick/Madsen/Buckner/Smith/Walker
Flip response to Love wanting out, "He has no reason to be upset, you're either a part of the problem or a part of the solution"

We may not have been talking about him, but the Wolves have worked him out twice, and the latest that DX is hearing has Lopez being the favorite to be drafted at #4. If the Wolves like him more than Mayo, and can't arrange a trade with Seattle, then the value would seem to be there at #3.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''
