Question about Buckner's contract.
I'm seeing conflicting things about the way his contract is set up. Does he have a team option or player option? And when does this option occur?

He has neither.
The last 2 years of his deal are only guaranteed for $1m.So if you waive him next off season it only costs $1m to get rid of him.

Cool. That clears up a lot. I wonder why the articles and certain sites are saying he has an option?

To be completely accurate it's $1Mil plus the trade kicker which brought it up to $1,062,398.

He also has a player option. If you don't waive him next year, the season after that is a player option.

So he does have a player option after all. I don't see him making it to that.
