Our new Northwest division member: OKC Thunders

Post#1 » by Mcfale313 » Sun Jul 20, 2008 8:26 am

on wiretap:
http://basketball.realgm.com/src_wireta ... d_thunder/

such an ugly name..............

how about getting rid of the N and the redundant "er", too many teams have "er" as their last part of their names...so get rid of it and the new name would be:

OKC T-Huds, aka OKC Thuds..............

Ok I'll stop fooling around, seriously, its an ugly name and durant wont like it, and thunder is still travelling slower in the air than the sonics so in all perspectives this name sucks, Durant, Collison, Wilcox and Jeff Green and others will leave the team after their current contracts expire, and by then we can offer them a spot in our roster to allow them defeating the THuds 4 times per season if not more.

I predict the THuds finishes the upcoming season either 1-81 or at least 12 games below the wolves, then lost the lottery and draft 5th because Memphis posted a 0-82 record while also lost the lottery~

They were better off using the Thunder Cats. Sounds like a WNBA name.

so it is quite official that the sonics won't be in Seattle for another season? I always thought they'd have another year over there.

Stupid name. I now have a new least-favorite team.

There is already a professional sports team named the Thunder. Right here in Minnesota.

More like the Blunders.

Obviously their first blunder was choosing their name.

Heat, Magic, Bobcats, Wizards and now the Thunder. I really dont like any of these names. The Wiz i can live with and the Heat and Magic arent horrible but cmon, Thunder? Sounds like a jr. hockey team name.

When was the last time a team got a name in any league that was any good? Bobcats. Thunder. Nationals. Texans. We're one step away from Europe, were everything is "Real" or "United." I'm surprised they didn't just go with "Oklahoma City Team."

Charlotte Flight would have been a lot better. We all got taken on that one.

Outlaws would have been dece. Sort of negative connotation though and no one wants that.

Maybe I haven't put much thought into it, but how does one come up with a logo/mascot for "Thunder" ---> a sound made by lightning?
