Dean Cooper to Minnesota

Post#1 » by the light » Wed Jul 23, 2008 12:09 am

A Houston Rockets Web site is reporting that Dean Cooper, a Vice President with the Rockets, will become a new assistant coach for the T-Wolves. He is suppossed to be a defensive guru like that dude from the Celtics (Thibodieux).

Great hire by Wittman.

After trying to find some info on him, sounds like he's a good scouter. He worked with Rudy T scouting opponents for the Olympics, and he was credited as the person who discovered Carl Landry.

LOL. Must have been real hard to 'discover' a senior putting up huge numbers in the Big 10...

Well, if it was so easy, the why didn't he go higher than he did. Some people didn't think he'd be drafted (while other draft sites didn't even have a profile page for him)

Injury concerns, size and athleticism. It's one thing to say he pushed for him despite the concerns, it's a whole different thing to claim he discovered him. And there should be some old articles on draftexpress where we hyped up Landry as a potential steal a month before the draft.

anyways...if he is truly a defensive guru, than he is very welcomed on our team. We have plenty of our own talent that is able to "discover" undersized PF's.

Wittman can use all the defensive help he can get. I don't want us turning into another Enver Nuggets.

no wonder the wolves were willing to hold draft prospect workout camp with the rockets and didnt even bother to trade for a late 1st rounder after all(where the rockets were to pick)............. The wolves were there to scout and rob for their coaches rather than the draft prospect....

I don't know how you would manage that in a private workout...
