Wolves get dissed again.

Post#1 » by Calinks » Fri Sep 5, 2008 5:02 pm

The Timberwolves took a national recognition hit this week when CBS-TV's Katie Couric, comparing St. Paul and Minneapolis on a Republican National Convention broadcast, said Minneapolis has the Twins and the Vikings and raved about the Wild in St. Paul. No mention of the Timberwolves in Minneapolis. The calculated publicity value of the mention in front a Nielsen audience of 5.48 million was $1.275 million, or the equivalent of $75,000 for a 30-second ad.

No respect.

I honestly can't see how Katie Couric mentioning a team name is worth $1.275 million in publicity.

Is this really how people think?
"Wow, I didn't know that the Vikings played in Minnesota until Katie Couric said so. I think I will go buy an executive suite for all of their games now because Katie Couric mentioned them on national TV! After all they MUST be good because Katie Couric mentioned them!"

I saw we each grab one of those bazooka guns and head down there. During the live broadcast we will shoot a bunch of T-Wolf shirts through the glass windows and cause a ruckas.

5.5 million people choose to watch Katie Couric over Brian Williams? Wow. My respect for this country just went down another knotch.

slightly OT but today I also saw a tv report about the RNC and they showed a small clip of the Twin City area. they said Minneapolis is the better city while St. Paul is the older one. I think I can live with that :D oh and yeah I was somehow hoping to see a under 30 year old guy talking to the media (he might have been someone from this board :D) but no, all they interviewed were some women over 40 and one guy in the mid 50s.

I always had a wish that the Wolves would move to Saint Paul.
