The Gang of 14 was .. what .. two years ago? Last year?
I don't understand why anyone would buy the Kool-ade that McCain is the same as Bush. You couldn't nominate anyone who has so opposed him. He's done more damage to Bush's policies than Hillary or Obama. Ads make a big deal of "McCain voted with Bush 90% of the time." Do you think that's a lot, from a president who didn't veto a single bill from congress until right near the end of his term (i.e - some democratic legislature too?). Anyone check Obama? 96% -- He's one of the four LEAST objective voters in congress. And this guy was preaching for bi-partisanism? Show some actions!
McCain has consistently been in the bottom 10% of simply voting party lines. He has freakin Joe Lieberman campaigning for him, the DEM VP nominee from two elections ago, for crying out loud!
Guys don't change, particularly guys McCain's age. If McCain was elected, he'd be an independent president, because he's been an independent senator. If Obama is elected, he's going to be a Party-owned president, because he's never been anything different. If you're staunchly democratic, that should be fine with you, but I'm more independent, and I want my check-and-balance in the executive branch to be independent.
