Psst. McCain was running for president. And if you don't think Palin is qualified, you certainly can't vote for the far less qualified Franken.

I agree with others who have said that there are other uninformed voters. I'm not in favor of any, regardless of who they vote for.

Why does it take so long to get results? With our current level of technology, shouldn't we have results in like an hour?

I propose that instead of a long painful recount in the Coleman-Frankin Senate Race, we have them settle it with a gladiator-style, fight to the death. Coleman gets a sword and shield, Franken gets a net and trident. They could have it in the XCel Center. Release a lion or two to make it interesting.

after watching both of their speeches last night after the prez results came in, I was reaffirmed in my disillusion of the duo. Coleman is an east coast choad who thinks he's a Kennedy and Al Franken has this condescending smirk on his face and talks like he's addicted to pain-killers.

Instead of a recount, can we get a do-over and everybody can write-in "no thanks"

572 votes out of 2.9 million. Wow. Two hundredths of one percent.

Franken less qualified than Palin? No way, and I voted for Coleman. Franken is way more qualified than Palin. Her experience governing Alaska gave her absolutely no prep to be vice president to the most frail person to run for president in half a century. Frankin may lose on the resume, but at least he doesn't fall flap on his face during the job interview. He has at least a semblence about whats going on, unlike Palin.

btw, I totally support the gladitorial combat option, as long as its to the death. Or, Princess Bride style, to the pain.

Agreed. I thought he did a commendable job on doing what was necessary on his end to help with bridging the division. Either way there was going to be a significant portion of the country upset in the end.

I thought McCain's crowd was not all class though. They start booing when he mentions Obama's name - they don't even deserve to be called a crowd, they're a mob.

Agreed. I'm kinda sick to my stomach with this. Just glance around the internet for a minute and look at peoples comments... out of control racism. Granted, it's prolly a small % of the population, but it still makes me sick.

Meh, I don't agree with it but it's pretty standard stuff.

Agreed as well. Some people can't get past their preconceived notions and prejudices.

I disagree completely....this wasn't about race it was because Obama fundamentally is a Socialist. He said that "the Declaration of Independence is a flawed document" and re-distributing the wealth is a communist ideal. He is against everything that made this country what it is today...that is why people were booing. Its everyone on Obama's side that made it about race. They don't take the time to really question what he is saying, they are blindly following him because he represents a minority. You are correct in that he will inspire change...welcome to the USSA. (United Socialist States of America). Have fun with that.

So you're saying Franken could actually name a newspaper?

As far as the Socialism argument, I'm sure there are people who believe that and that fueled their anger. However, there are a lot of parts of socialism in our country that people who use the term are largely unaware of. Such examples are the Wall Street bail out, McCain's plan to buy the bad mortgages for $700 billion comes from the back of the taxpayer, and Palin's state having everyone receive $3000 a year from oil companies. As far as the spreading the wealth argument, if you get every bit of money you pay into taxes back then you have the argument, but that isn't the case. Spreading the wealth was more about the upper class moving back to the 39% tax rate they had pre-Bush vs. the 36% they have now.

thanks, I will have fun with that. There's nothing wrong with Socialism as a form of government, it's corrupt leaders that's the problem, not socialism.

Please do re-distribute the wealth. Funny that people would give up guaranteed reasonable improvement in quality in life for the majority just so they can hold on to that one in a quadrillion dream that they'll one day be a billionaire and be able to join the elites in spitting on the paupers. Beyond selfish.

And the Declaration of Independence is almost 250 years old, of course it's a flawed document. The universe is a living, changing organism; learn to accept it because nothing is permanent. 1776 isn't the pinnacle of man-kind and the thoughts at that one point in time shouldn't be attempted to be kept in permanence over thousands of years because that's not possible.

People do things today that society accepts that'd be abhorrent behavior 250 years ago. Likewise, there are behaviors and actions that people wouldn't bat an eye at 250 years ago that are beyond disrespectful today.

I don't care about Obama's race and I don't watch TV to see what everybody's saying so I can go paraphrase it to everyone the next day as original thoughts. I don't need help to understand when somebody shares values that I share, and I see some of that in Obama. He seems genuinely interested in breaking down these unnecessary competitions of US vs the World, rich vs poor, this race vs that race, men vs women - that's caveman thinking. He's in the modern age and even though he's hung up on some lesser things that I don't agree with, his foundation is solid.

He doesn't fight equality and he doesn't fight knowledge. After what the US has gotten lately, that's more than enough to get my support.

That's as insulting as being called a racist, prefuse... and since I'd assume you don't want to be called a racist, don't assume that all Obama voters are socialist syncophants.

If you get past the soundbites and get to the meaning of what he was talking about, Obama said that the the Declaration is a living document. It's meaning has changed over the existence of this country in many ways, and it will continue to do so.

I don't believe in a socialist model (redistribution of wealth) and I don't think Obama does either. Favoring higher taxes for the rich doesn't make you a socialist - in fact, our tax structure is set up (and has always been set up) so that the rich pay more, both overall and on a percentage basis, to the government.

I think you're being manipulated by the term socialist, prefuse. It's a loaded term, full of negative connotations for Americans. Kind of like calling someone racist, actually... doesn't get the actual conversation anywhere, but it does get everyone all riled up.

I think this election showed that ageism has not surpassed racism as one of the biggest problems in our country ;)

Graduated income tax is wealth redistribution by definition. It has been part of the United States for the better part of a century, and will continue to be indefinitely.
