MN / Washington / LAL (Arenas/Foye/Odom)

Post#1 » by Devilzsidewalk » Tue Nov 4, 2008 9:18 pm

MN outgoing: Randy Foye, Jason Collins, Mike Miller, Mark Madsen, Miami 1st rounder
MN incoming: Gilbert Arenas, Etan Thomas

Washington outgoing: Gilbert Arenas, Etan Thomas
Washington incoming: Randy Foye, Lamar Odom, Chris Mihm, Miami 1st rounder

LaL outgoing: Lamar Odom, Chris Mihm
LaL incoming: Mike Miller, Jason Collins, Mark Madsen

MN needs a #1 option. The offense looks pretty bad sometimes, and a perimeter creator like Arenas could help a lot. Etan Thomas is some nice frontcourt muscle.

Washington gets a mulligan on their Arenas contract, they get a huge expiring who'd make an interesting frontcourt w/ Jamison, Randy Foye, and what could be a lotto pick.

Lakers get a shooter and frontcourt bodies.

The gamble is Arenas. Washington has proven they can play well without him; give up the massive contract and try again. MN would be gambling he can regain some of that form, and they better be right because his final year pays over 22 million.

He just cant stay on the court enough for me. I like hibachi, and im sure he gives his team a better chance with him then without him, but he is too much like Vince Carter to me.

Helllllllllllllllll No. Arenas has one of the worst contracts, if not the worst contract in the NBA. 2 players I would not touch no matter what are Arenas and Rashard Lewis. Out of the two though, I'd rather have Lewis.

I'd love to have his talent here and his popularity but he just signed a multiyear contract. if he had like 2 years on his contract I'd do it instantly but I'd say no to his 5 year contract worth around 100 million dollars

I'm way to torn on this, I don't think MN can get a player as good as arenas any other way, to cash strapped for me though. I'd have to pass

It's a desperate trade, but I'm desperate for a big time scorer.

I'm liking the potential of Love/Jefferson cleaning the glass and getting tons of garbage points around the hoop, but they need a perimeter threat to help draw some attention. Somebody who can score in bunches, but I'm finding those guys are hard to attain.

I wouldn't do it. Arenas is a good individual offensive player but he doesn't improve the players around him. This is a road Jefferson is threatening to head down, the Timberwolves don't need Arena's around to hand him a roadmap.

Foye is one of my favorite Wolves but I think I would do this deal.
Arenas/Brewer/Carney/Love/Jefferson -- Telfair/Gomes/Smith/Thomas
^I wouldn't mind that rotation at all.

I had Gomes starting at first but then when I saw the bench would be Telfair/Carney/Smith/Thomas I thought it was in need of some scoring off the bench. And just as I am typing this I see that McCants wasn't in the trade.. So McCants would come off the bench (along with Carney) and Gomes would start. My other reasoning for starting Carney would be that if Arenas were to be on this team I would hope that he and Love/Jefferson would be more than enough scoring in the line up (Carney would team up with Brewer to try to lock down the wings). And if those three would not be enough scoring I don't think the trade would be worth it.

I'm not convinced Arenas will ever be fully healthy. I think the earliest would be late this year, or next year.
