Trade idea, shrink isnt gonna like this....

Chicago
Incoming: Craig Smith, Brian Cardinal
Outgoing: Kirk Hinrich

WHY: Been discussed before. They send Cap'n Kirk on his way to clear the way for Rose as their future, full time PG. Gets them an inside scoring presence off the bench and Cardinal will be a useful expiring next year.

Golden State
Incoming: Kirk Hinrich, Rodney Carney
Outgoing: Al Harrington, CJ Watson

WHY: Gets them a PG. Sure they hope Ellis can be their guy, but this makes it so he can ease into it. Kirk can handle the rock, defend and hit open 3's. Rodney Carney fits a Don Nelson system so perfectly. Not to mention they get rid of Harrington as an issue. Watson is only involved to make the numbers work.

Minny
Incoming: Al Jefferson, CJ Watson
Outgoing: Craig Smith, Brian Cardinal, Rodney Carney

WHY: Clears up a roster spot, maybe even two if we decide to buy-out Watson (likely). I would think Harrington opts out of his contract after this year to be a FA and go to a contender leaving us with 9 mil in expiring to go with Collins and Booth. Clears our forward glut a bit and makes use of Cardinal.

If its not enough value for Chi we may need to toss in a late 1st or 2nd.

You pick on shrink, but you did the same thing.

I didnt spend anytime weighting this or figuring out value, I'm not big into Euros but they have nothing else of value to return imo. Might be short because I know how overvalued draft picks are esspecially lotto talent

Minnesota Timberwolves (long term asset for miller and some of u loved this gallinari kid)
Incoming Players Stephon Marbury Danilo Gallinari
Outgoing Players: Jason Collins, Mike Miller, Brian Cardinal

New York Knicks (save cash + lux money, add 2 players who fit system, doesnt hurt 2010 cap)
Incoming Players Jason Collins Al Harrington Mike Miller
Outgoing Players: Stephon Marbury, Danilo Gallinari, Jerome James

Chicago Bulls (can only be viewed as salary dump)
Incoming Players Jerome James Brian Cardinal
Outgoing Players: Kirk Hinrich

Golden State Warriors (meh?)
Incoming Players, Kirk Hinrich
Outgoing Players: Al Harrington

i wouldnt do this trade!

I hate trying to think of 4 way deals. lol. I wanted to make it Card and bring in Al2 so Harrington could expire along with Collins/Booth/Howard/Hudson. This would be roughly $25.6 M off the cap. Leaving us at about $44.6M in total salary, some $14M and change under the cap next year (if my excel numbers are correct)and a roster looking like

Foye/Brewer/Miller/Love/Jefferson
Telfair/McCants/Gomes/Madsen/________

That was an intentional jab.

Thought so, but wasn't sure.

I do like the lineup and capspace, I'd look for a way to replace miller with a long term defensive option at 3. Weakside shot blocker\help defender ala smooth\ak47. gsw has anthony randolph but they are probably awefully attached and he is very raw offensively, but he may be a good fit for that role.

I do like it in theory, if you can ship out cardinal + x + bos or utah pick for harrington

Then figure out what Harrington + Miller + x can get you!

just for kicks though!

Trading Al Jefferson to ourselves is a deal breaker. We can get more for him, from us.

LOL. Well i posted it on the trade board and most think that Harrington isnt likely to opt out of his final year so quickly. Kinda changes things.

I think that's good value, but you're right .. if Al didn't opt out, we don't have a good use for him.

I'd consider this too, because it's Galinari plus a 2009 free agent/assets we can generate with cap space.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
