MN NYK CHA

Something I tossed up on trade board...

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=850372

Minnesota Timberwolves
Incoming Players: Jermareo Davidson, Gerald Wallace, Q
Outgoing Players: Rashad McCants, Jason Collins, Rodney Carney, Cardinal, UTAH #1, MIA #1

New York Knicks
Incoming Players: Jason Collins, Rodney Carney, Cardinal
Outgoing Players: Eddy Curry, Q

Charlotte Bobcats
Incoming Players: Rashad McCants, Eddy Curry, Utah #1, MIA #1
Outgoing Players: Jermareo Davidson, Gerald Wallace

NY:
Doesn't affect cap space plans in 2010. For Curry? Take the expirings and run imo. Also, get Carney who could thrive in a fast pace offense. They save 8m in salary this year too(not that nyk cares). Cardinal for Q part could be taken out, just tossed it in as it saves some money this year(~4m) and next(2-4m). Not sure how Q is playing or holding up this season

CHA:
Ok maybe they want Curry...MAYBE. I still doubt it, but they may want a post presence and okafor would cover up Currys lack of D. They also get to reunite May-Felton-McCants! I personally think McCants is underrated on the boards in general(esp. on the wolves board). He can score? I think the kid would explode somewhere else if given proper minutes\coaching. CHA gets some picks for use in the future

MN:
Does't solve the glaring need for a defensive center and hurts future cap, but a lineup of
al\love\wallace\miller\foye is way better than what they send out. Q\cardinal part can be taken out. MN can't complain!

Cap numbers:
08-09(w\ gomes & smith) $70,431,281
09-10(w\ gomes & smith) $61,631,378
10-11(w\ gomes & smith) $41,721,848

Cap numbers:(if MN ships out gomes/smith this year at deadline)
$64,281,281
$55,313,878
$37,336,848

Al\Love
Love\Al
Wallace\Q\Brewer
Miller\Brewer
Foye\Bassy

Flip gomes + smith into a big man of some sort. May need slight adjustments and send a cheap defensive big on rookie contract to MN(s.williams?), may need another guard sent to MN. New coach needed too!

If the rumors are true that CHA would take on Curry, I think we'll see a three-team deal like this .. I just don't know if we'll be the third team. I think this is a smart deal, and your very negative valuation of Curry reflects my own. Setting the Knicks up with 2-year deals is perfect for their quest for LeBron in 2010, and Carney sells it for the fans, so I think that's one they'd OK. I'm just not sure Gerald Wallace is worth that much minor stuff with a healthy, long contract and injury questions. I'd like seeing him in Wolves uni, that's for sure!

The goal for the Knicks is to clear enough cap space in 2010. they feel if they can make a max deal offer, LeBron will pick NYK since he can make so much more money on Madison Avenue. Unfortunately for the Knicks, it means they need to move Curry, Zach Randolph, Crawford or Jared Jeffries .. probably either Zach or Curry. Getting LeBron would be a godsend for the Knicks.

bruceallen's deal has been getting almost entirely positive responses on the trade board, of we keep the MIA pick.

Seems like a reasonable deal to me - from the wolves perspective certainly. I also like your follow-up idea of trading Gomes & Smith. Preferably to a team that doesn't think Gomes is a full-time PF and Smith is a center - let's give them a chance to succeed somewhere far from Whitman.

My only real hesitation was sending out the picks. If we keep the Miami one, I say pull the trigger.

Actually I think a better altered deal would include nj and send carney + utah pick for williams

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
