Why NO love 4 Carney?

Post#1 » by kevinbs » Wed Nov 12, 2008 2:37 pm

He is an athletic guard / forward who can run, shoot and play defense. (You would know if he got the minutes) But most importantly he is not selfish (like McCants) I do not understand why Whitman (who has to be sleeping with McCants) does not play Telfair, Carney, Foye, Miller, Gomes, Love, Brewer and Jefferson more..... This lineup can run anyone out of the gym.....

I don't think Love and Jefferson will be running many people out of the gym.

I'm ready to give Carney a shot (Collins too). What's the worst thing that can happen? We lose 6 in a row?

I don't know, if you put a bag of White Castles on the opposite base line I bet Love and Al would get across the court pretty quickly...

I agree about Carney vs. McCants. Our guards are getting out scored by 10+ pts per game. This is after you adjust for Parker lighting us up. McCants and Foye both get sucked down toward the lane in an attempt to play "help" defense. They are either not quick enough or don't react quick enough to get back out on their own guy at the 3 pt. line. They jump toward the shooter hoping to block the shot - doesn't work too often. If the shooter hasn't used his dribble he just drives past them as they are in the air. Brewer does this occassionally but has the length and quickness to get better results.
McCants + Foye = 41.96% on 2pt. shots and 22% on 3pts. combined 35.8% Carney should be able to match those numbers and provide much needed defense.
I've been a fan since the beginning and I will be until my end.

Carney probably won't get any run until just before the trade deadline and then we'll try to show case him for a trade.

I think he is there in case either foye or mccants gets shipped out. Until then, there is no point (or minutes) to play him.

Carney really ought to get some minutes after the horrible GS performance by McCants and Foye. I'd like to see Telfair, Love, and Jefferson have a lot of minutes at 1-4-5 with Carney, Brewer, and Miller playing 2-3. Run more. When you do get in the halfcourt, feed Al. Maybe play more zone.
