Nashville Faces Big Off-Season, Could Lose Forsberg
13th May, 2007 - 2:37 pm
The Newark Star-Ledger - The Sabres, Thrashers and Devils are all teams that will have key free agents to re-sign this summer. But perhaps no NHL team is facing an off-season as crucial as the Predators.

GM David Poile has four top players eligible to become unrestricted free agents on July 1: Forwards Peter Forsberg, Paul Kariya, Scott Hartnell and defenseman Kimmo Timonen.

Already Poile has predicted that Forsberg will not play in the NHL next season due to several physical problems. Asked if he thought he would re-sign Forsberg, Poile told the Nashville Tennessean: "Honestly, no. If he said he was going to play, I don't think he'd rule out Nashville. I think his experience was good here. I don't think he's thinking, 'I'll only play in Denver.' I think he's thinking of not playing."

Poile called Timonen "one of the best defensemen in the NHL, and he deserves to be paid like that. That will be a big raise." [READ]
