What could have prevented Wallace from signing with us?

Oh, and guess what? He STILL might not sign with us now that he's opting out so that doesn't help the argument.

Is it the worst thing in the world if he doesnt? **** me in the camp that would be perfectly fine not signing him. I'm fine not givig 4/38 to a guy turning 30 coming off an injury with all the wear and tear he has on him.

dont get me wrong, love his game, his leadership... but im not heartbroken if that money goes elsewhere. in fact id argue we'd even be better off using to toward a restricted player, using the cap space to facilitate bringing in a guy with a big contract like a rudy gay, or just spending it on other free agents.

does Phillydo iguodala for brooks a future pick and big trade exception/cap space?

YES, because it means you gave up an major asset for absolutely nothing!!!

Also, with what trade pieces are you going to acquire Rudy Gay?

Cap space is for signing players to long term deals. You can't just trade a player for cap space. Our best asset is MarShon Brooks. That should tell you what a screw job this entire ordeal was and still is.

we basically gave portlant a large expiring contract in okur and a high lottery pick for 17 games of wallace. it doesnt matter if we sign wallace, because we could have signed him anyway without having to give up a lottery pick.

there is no need to "See it to the end" because it already ended the day the regular season ended.

False.

So you dont agree that we could have kept our lottery pick and still signed wallace in free agency?

do you think he would have opted-in if he stayed with portland?

we gave up a major asset for nothing even if we DO sign wallace. he is a free agent, we could have signed him either way. signing wallace doesnt change the fact that we traded te pick for 17 games of his service. any time he spends on the nets going forward are independant of that trade, as we could have signed him anyway...

thus, no need to sign him, if its not the best move basetball wise. and giving 10 million or so for 4 years of a guy who is gonna be 30 and has a ton of miles on him might not make great basketball sense.

you know whats worse then horrible errors in judgement? compounding those errors by making moves to try and justify them.

i want walllace back... but at the right price, and the right years. and even then, it still is a horrible horrible trade.

I can't fathom how anyone can possibly defend this trade. It's mind-boggling ignorant to defend this trade. I understand you love the team, whatever, but any defense that is presented is based on ignorance and a lack of understanding of either a) basketball or b) the CBA.

were discussing the future... all we have is "what ifs"

what if deron signs/doesnt sign. what if wallace wants 4 years vs. 3 years... etc...

Sorry guys. The management of my team, the Wizards, traded the #5 pick for a year of Mike Miller and Randy Foye. Both were terrible, desparate trades from the beginning. Even if everything blows up for you like it did for us, at least you guys have cool jerseys and are a potential FA destination years down the line.

Your face knew about this yesterday... :(

Apologies though...I've been catching up on television shows, weeping over the Devils, being confused on the Pacquiao fight, and watching the Yankees to cheer me up.
