I just feel like he's going to get his chance and show he's a good scorer but he's going to be a bit of a ball hog

I have a few friends who are UConn alum and follow their program religiously... I want to see who they think he compares with the most out of recent guards who've come out of there.

Uconn fan here. I watched probably close to 90% of Boatright games the past 4 years. He deff has a little Kemba Walker in him. Dont think he will be the scorer Kemba is but he makes up for that with his court vision and athleticism.

I'm hoping we develop him over the next year or two and bring him in after we move on from Jarret Jack.

You're a CT guy and a Hornets fan, how did that happen? Interesting not a Celtics/Knicks/Nets guy...I'm down in Milford and been a Nets fan forever

Dont get me wrong I do root for the local teams but I was a huge Kemba Walker fan at Uconn so when he got drafted to Charlotte I started watching them a lot on league pass and it eventually they grew on me. Now they have Jeremy Lamb too im pumped. But not gonna lie the first few years of watching Charlotte was brutal, especially the 7 win season haha

Oh yeah they got Lamb! Too bad they drafted and immediately trade Napier... that would have been cool if they had all 3 (and I might have been forced to become a closet Charlotte fan lol)

to be honest, i dont think those 2 are anywhere near our biggest problems when it comes to defense.

karasev doesnt likely play much. jack and bogs were awful last season. thad was poor. those 3 might all start. thats a big concern.

i give lopez alot of criticism for his team D, but those 3 are bigger issues then him for sure.

I don't think Boatright is going to get a ton of minutes early on. But I think he can be this year's Markel Brown.

Hollins is tough but fair. He was giving everyone a crack last year to prove themselves. I think Boatright may have a shot to play minutes behind Jack if he outplays Larkin. I'm sure his NBA game is going to ned a ton of polish, but I do believe he can become a regular contributor.

Also sidenote: I would love to be in the gym to see Markel and Boatright have a dunk-off.

Boatright reminds me of Isaiah Thomas. Not the HOF, but the one that plays for the Celtics. I think it's 50-50 he makes it in the league though, he will get a chance if he continues knocking down 3s, running the team and playing at least solid D.

Thad's defense on the perimeter was pretty good, its when he starts getting punished by PFs that actually play back to the basket is where he gets into trouble. His Pick and roll d is trash

Lopez's P n R d = atrocious too

Team defense needs to be a focus in camp this season. Everyone has flaws, gotta find a way to cover for em.

I think the Nets are purposely going small. We want to encourage teams to post up and slow their offenses down. Getting teams to play in the post is the best way to incorporate Lopez's defense at the rim and allows him to be a shot blocker. It's a case of "take what the defense gives you". We made an effort to bring in more length and athleticism to take away plays out on the perimeter. If the Nets start RHJ at SG like I think they will, we will have two guys who terrorize the passing lanes. If teams slow down ball movement to play more post up basketball then they are playing at the Net's tempo. We will see how it works.

I like Boatright, but he is more Farmar, CJ Watson and Jack then he is a PG. Unfortunately he is a better shooting Marguis Teague and Taylor. Only reason I like him better than all of the above is he is third string PG that can pressure the ball and IMO he can shoot the 3.

Boatright would work with a Big Passing PG or a Playmaking SG. Maybe once RHJ gets in the swing of things as a Point Forward you can try Boatright(Shooter;Ball Hawk), Bogs(playmaker), and RHJ (Point Forward; Main Perimeter defender)

If we go Jack/JJ/RHJ/Thad/Brook

We've got one mid range shooter(Jack), one three point shooter(Joe), two athletes to run the floor, and an around the rim scorer in Brook.

For this to work, someone has to be a facilitator, and someone has to be able to hit threes other than Joe. Thad can hit em, but not consistently. We don't know what RHJ will give us. Maybe he can provide some kind of point forward play, he is a willing passer and he pushes the ball off of the rebounds which will create chances for scores before the defense sets up.

I think Hollins goes with Jack, Bogs, JJ, Thad, Lopez. As the season goes on Hollins will start plucking people in and out of the lineup.

What I would like it to end up is Larkin, Bogs, RHJ, Thad, Brook with Jack, Brown, JJ, TRob, Reed and Barg coming off the bench.

He is a gamer. It's hard not to root for this guy. I love the fight in him. Nets were down 10 with less then 2:00 and he went off
