That info was probably leaked to drive up his price by Rondo's agent:

Agreed. The days leading up to free agency are second to the trade deadline in terms of clickbait articles and reports. Take all of this info with a grain of salt.

Marks just reiterated the fact that the Nets aren't going to be spending just to spend. Spending the max on Rondo is almost the opposite of that mentality.

I'd rather sign Jeremy Lin and let some other ass holes pay 30 mil for that head case.

His agent obviously.

People get worked up over these reports. Rondo isnt getting max money. Neither is Barnes. Or Parsons. I dont think the Hawks are going to offer Horford a 5 year contract. I dont think KD is going to GS.

It's lying season.

Sixers might just max Barnes.

I don't know what ATL wants to do. I'm not sure I'd give Horford that 5th year myself Al is a good player but he's 30 right now. I'm not paying that guy 30 mil when he's hit the end point

I think Marks view Horford as Duncan-Lite. I could easily see Horford aging well. He doesnt have that much mileage and his major injuries were torn pecs and nothing related to the knee, back or ankle.

It'll be interesting to see how these first non-superstar deals go.

Mark Cuban said that everyone is expecting non-stars to get huge pay raise when in reality full maxes will be relegated to the elite of the elite while lesser stars will still get a lot and continuing on down to the lowest tier players.

Yes. He's no Woj, but Steve Kyler is a legit reporter.

Also always have to remember with any of these guys though, they're passing on the rumors that the people giving them to want them to.

I think Rondo has grown a lot as a person since he blew his knee out but it was a process. People need to remember that Rondo hasnt made a lot of money in his career. He was the 21st pick in 2006. He blew his knee out a year before he was suppose to hit free agency and he got to see the harsh business end of basketball. Boston went into rebuild mode after Rondo blew out his knee. Rondo broke his hand before the season started and Boston shortly there after traded him to Dallas. Carlisle never wanted Rondo and the two bumped heads immediately. Rondo was never himself that season and the pressure of being miss used and dealing with injury led him to a bad place.

The funny thing is that it was probably the best thing that ever happened to him. It taught him humility. It was humbling to him to have to take a one year deal in Sacramento. Instead of dwelling on everything that happened to him beyond his control, Rondo made the best of a bad situation. He did and said all the right things outside of the gay slur that was said in the heat of the moment. He has been on a number of broadcasts since the season ended and he comes off as mature intelligent guy the same way Steve Kerr did when he was on TV. You can tell Rondo has learned from his life experiences.

The Nets need more then a productive player on the court, they need someone who can represent the team well. The last 3 faces of the Nets were Lopez, Joe Johnson and DWill. Lopez sounds like stoner when he speaks. Joe had no personalty and was monotone. DWill was moodier than my GF before her period. None of those 3 had the chops to be a leader, Rondo does IMO. One of my biggest concerns about the cap going up is that players who never were expected to make significant money are going to get fat and lazy. It was a problem the last time we paid a PG (DWill). I think basketball means too much to Rondo for him to not give everything he has. It's been a long time since we have had the best player on the team be the hardest worker. Rondo will lead by example as well as his words. I want him on the Nets badly just to change the culture and perception of the organization.

i dont know how you can call rondo a cancer....

he won a title in boston. you cant be a cancer and win a title. the definition of cancer is someone who prevents you from winning and infects the team.

the kings won 4 more games then the prior season. thats despite being a complete dumpster fire in the front office.

dallas he was disruptive, but i cant take 1/2 a season in a situation he didnt want to be in and a situation he wasnt wanted and ignore the rest of his 10 year career.

maybe he isnt the ideal teammate, but he is certainly no cancer
