Magic isn't going to trade for a center that averages 5 rebs a game. This man played with Kareem Abdul Jabbar for god's sake, arguably the greatest basketball player of all time.
Ironic that you mention KAJ, because he sucked ass as a rebounder for most of Magic's career lol.
TBH, Magic does strike me as a guy that likes name value and perception...Lopez is a former All-Star still in his prime who is still considered by most to be one of the best offensive bigs in the league. I feel like Magic might be interested, especially since I don't think he's all that smart as a talent evaluator.
As for Lopez in general, I think his value for us has run its course, which is through no fault of his own to be honest. He's always been the good soldier, he's always been extremely loyal, and he's been the one constant that's been left over from the changing of the old guard (VC's last season with us) til now. I love Brook, he's been the one consistent bright spot for the last 9 years now. But we're the worst team in the league with no assets of our own for the next 2 years, and he's a 29 year old center with a history of foot problems. At this point, by the time we have any chance of being good again, Lopez's prime, and possibly career, will be over. Might as well move on and get what we can.
But I do believe that he's signed for one more year after this one, no? In which case...is there really a rush to trade him right now?
