They need to show some heart, seeing as the Canucks obviously have none.

James_Raptors wrote:Yesterday afternoon there was a VPD officer on the fan590 and she spoke about how they had been planning and preparing for potential rioting, win or lose. She said they had contacted the RCMP already and they were going to help. She discussed how the beer/liq stores were closing an hour or two before the game even started. She also mentioned that they had been keep close tabs on any organized groups who planned on going downtown specifically to riot. It sounded good on paper and after she was done on air I felt good thinking they had things under control.

I guess I was wrong.

I heard that lady. I think the prevailing thought was Vancouver would win the Cup. So instead of dealing with an angry mob, it would be a happy one......just a lot of people. I know people want to say those weren't Canucks fans...and maybe some weren't (some might have been G20 professionals).....but you also had a lot of pissed off people. They came oh so close, then lost. You're drunk, you're pissed, and you follow the crowd....that's how it goes down.

What do Vancouver and Sunnyvale Trailer Park have in common? Open car fires.

I see your Canadian Blake Griffen, and raise you a flash bang to the balls

Blake Griffin getting ideas for next year.

When we need to send troops into places, why don't we round up these d-bags and send them instead.

Blake will get a bunch of Vancouverites to flip a car and set it on fire. He'll dangle a basketball from a chain above the burning car. He'll then jump over the car, grab the ball and dunk it, his momentum and sheer force of will incapacitating the feral Vancouverites and putting out the flames. Cue the storefront church choir.

Nike, just do it.

HEDOBALL wrote:Whoever says the police are to blame for this needs to take another toke on the crack pipe.

As a family member of a BC RCMP officer, I know that VPD and the RCMP pulled every riot squad available from across the province to vancouver for not only game 7, but game 6 as well.

You guys can talk all you want about preparedness for this, but why don't try controlling a 100k+ person crowd.

If anyone is to blame, it'd have to be the city of vancouver for basically opening up the downtown core to this mob.

OK. Perhaps I had it wrong. The VPD shouldn't bear the most blame. It's the city. They shouldn't have allowed that size of crowd to gather in 1 central place. They could've organized smaller gatherings where the ratio of police/per canucks fans is more manageable.

Either way, this will change how they deal with such occasions in the future. They may have security checkpoints in the future .

The only time they should allow such mass gatherings is for a championship parade ...
Prediction
Spurs in 7. Parker MVP. Lebron 6-17fg, 18pt, 8reb, 5 asst in game 7 LOSS.
The Heat will choke!

Seeing injured Bruin fans who were innocent and did nothing wrong is just pathetic. What a disgrace of a city.

For every idiot setting things on fire, there are 50 idiots standing around taking pictures with their phones so they can add it to their facebook page.

I'm more interested in the stories of the average citizens who tried to intervene and stop the madness. Those people need be celebrated and those responsible for the violence made pay.

Fortunately most of those idiots are on camera so identifying them should just be a matter of time.

I have a feeling people will get charged when they're identified on video, but with our weakass system, they'll get off. Just cause a guy runs onto a burning car doesn't mean he set it on fire. There will be all kinds of loopholes for hooligans to get off.

LOOOOOLLLLLLLLL

Yeah, all you other Canadian teams just keep choking at the finish line. One of these years, the Leafs are gonna get a lucky playoff run, and then win the Cup in the stupidest way imaginable, and then all the other fans of teams outside of Toronto will be like, "Why? Why did it have to be those **** Leafs that did it? Why couldn't we seal the deal when we were there?"

Don't worry the Toronto - and Leafs fans, we'll never riot like that...as it actually takes making the playoffs and going somewhere to potentially incite such emotions! ;)
