Caps pick up Jeff Halpern (again), lose Boyd Gordon.

Not a big dramatic move, but it's nice to see Halpy back again.

Varlamov for a 1st and 2nd - when I'd assumed he'd go to overseas and we'd get nothing back - was a great move by GMGM.

I like the Hamrlich signing and also think it might of been uneeded, but we got Vokoun for a steal so can't really complain to much there. Also we resigned Knuble which will also be helpful.

I really don't like the Ward signing. A 4 year deal at 3 mil a season for at best a 3rd line winger? Just not a smart move. Now if somehow he shows up in season like the playoffs then sure go right ahead, but little to no chance of that happening.

Not so sure Ward is a 3rd line guy. He was on a really putrid team and still did ok with no linemates. He also looks like a guy who will put his foot in Semin's ass when he wussies out?
