KB2011 MOCK: 10th Pick Bucks Select Alec Burks

Post#1 » by moocow007 » Sat Jun 4, 2011 1:18 am

After a strong 2009-2010 season that had Bucks fans thinking big things to come, the Bucks came out flat in 2010-2011 and remained flat throughout the season. Racked by injuries and inconsistencies from it's top players, are the Bucks beginning to tune out their head coach Scott Skiles or can a healthy Bucks team return to being a playoff team? One of the key moves before the 2010-2011 season was the trade that brought Corey Maggette to the Bucks to help revitalize the Bucks anemic offense but that failed to bear fruit as the Bucks ended up last in the NBA in points per game as a team. So...who do they select with the 10th pick?

Selected already

1. Kyrie Irving
2. Derrick Williams
3. Brandon Knight
4. Enes Kanter
5. Jonas Valanciunas
6. Jan Vesely
7. Kemba Walker
8. Bismack Biyombo
9. Kawhi Leonard

I would take Jimmer and trade Jennings.

But they will probably go with Burks.

I think now things begin to get real interesting.

Immediate reaction is Burks but realize that while Burks may indeed be the best overall offensive player on the board (and scoring points being the Bucks biggest weakness) the reality is that their 2 most dynamic offensive players (John Salmons and Corey Maggette) both play the same position that Burks do. And both Salmons and Maggette have large mutli-year deals that, as of right now, will probably be almost impossible to move. Also, consider that their really is no clear cut starting PF on the roster (between Drew Gooden, the raw Larry Sanders, the unhappy Ersan Ilyasova and the one dimensional Luc Richard Mbah Amoute).

So I'm actually going to say that they go with Marcus Morris here.

i think they'll take Klay. somebody's got to be able to knock down a shot in that backcourt.

burks can be really good, but i don't think he's a good fit there.

Klay goes here. They need the shooting. Burks isn't a shooter...and he's projected to be a ball-reliant player. They have that in Jennings and to a lesser extent Salmons (who has a long term deal and won't be easy to move). I could see Morris as well or even the Jimmer but I think they want 3 point prowess in the form of a prototypical two guard. This is getting harder.

...and the more I think about it, Jimmer would make sense too. He could back up both guard spots and play alongside either Jennings or Salmons...I'm seriously considering changing my vote.

I went Burks here. I don't think Klay is a scott skiles type of player.

Burks, they need a someone who can create a shot, which Burks can do.

The thing is...Salmons and Maggs are both small forwards also. I think Burks at this spot is a steal and a no brainer.

I went with Burks. Team is horrible offensively and Burks is known for his offense. Seems like a perfect fit.

True. I think it's between Burks and Marcus Morris. With Ilyasova hemming and hawing about wanting to go back to Europe and not much in the way of any real depth/talent up front, Marcus Morris does make a good deal of sense...especially offensively out of the front court given Bogut's propensity for missing games and especially with him coming back from that nasty injury to his arm.

Rumor has it they are enamored with Marshon.

After having seemingly marginal interest in Brooks just a few weeks ago, the Bucks now consider him a legitimate candidate for their first-round pick, the 10th overall.

Yeah it seems like Brooks has gotten more than just the Bucks attention.

Ok, I think it's clear who won this poll and another hour isn't likely going to swing the vote.
