Felton is a top15-20 PG in the league... how could he come here in a cheap deal to come off the bench?

That's not true; Thomas would start over him in Sacramento. There's not a single team in the NBA right now where Felton would be the starting PG, other than Houston.

Felton will be a starter in Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago (Rose injured), Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Indiana, Miami, NOLA, New York, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, and maybe Utah.

Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago (Rose injured), Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Indiana, Miami, NOLA, New York, Orlando, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, and maybe Utah.

Lets go in order:
ATL- Teague
CHA- Walker(they are developing him)
CHI- Felton(only until Rose comes back)
DAL- Collision
DET- Knight (they are developing him)
HOU- Felton would start
IND- Hill
MIA- Chalmers
NOLA- Rivers and Gordan
NY- Lin
ORL- Maybe Felton could challenge Nelson
PHX- Dragic
POR- Lillard
SAC- Thomas
UT- Harris

I only see 3 teams Raymond might have a chance to start on (Bold).

When you are 28/YO and still trying to establish yourself, you are a backup.

Lol at the Felton fans. If Felton's really a top 15 PG, why did no team pursue him before us? Why did he get paid 3-4m/year when about 10 PGs only in this FA market got better offers? Lol at saying Felton loves NY. of course he does because we are like the only team showing interest and giving him an offer!

Conflicting info out there, but source insists Raymond Felton's deal with New York will pay him approximately $18 million over four years.

WTF. Is that possible with Gad & JJ's salaries

The Dallas Mavericks had great guard depth when they won the title. Even with Beuboix (sp?) injured, they still had Terry and Barea off the bench and Kidd played more minutes as the starter then but Stevenson played a small role as the starting SG (minutes-wise).

Chandler (30) Camby (18)
Amare (34) Melo (14)
Melo (24) Smith (10) Novak (14)
Smith (16) Kidd (14) Felton (18)
Lin (32) Felton (8) Kidd (8)

Plenty of minutes to go around, no? What am I missing?

unabashedFan wrote:For what it's worth, I think the Knicks are doing the most prudent thing to do which is not match. Lin is still a big question mark for that amount of money. But let's not kid ourselves... if they had come out at the start and offered Lin a contract, they won't look as bad and might have had a chance to sign Lin. Right now, they look like idiots for putting it out there that they will match any offers and "cannot see any situation where they won't match" to now basically waving the white flag and saying, sorry he costs too much.

Who is to honestly say Lin would have come with the Knicks offer. They were letting Lin get more money out of it, something he was probably trying to do anyway. As for "doing the prudent thing", talks of shorting the stock, fans quitting on the team after rooting for them for years (even through the last 10 prior to the Amare/Melo era) and the size of this thread say otherwise. If MSG stock plummets on Monday and beyond, are you saying this was a prudent move? This is a publicly traded stock. This goes much further than just luxury tax implications.

If Woodson suggested that they go after Felton and not match Lin, he should be f*cking fired.

And it wouldn't shock me if that f*cking prick Melo had a say in this.

Look at Felton's career before and after New York. Mediocre at best and downright awful last season.

Do you feel this way about Lin?

Lin played well under Woodson. He took over the 4th quarter of the Philly game, and that was a huge game for us. We looked GOOD with Stat, Melo, Lin, Chandler all together in that small sample size under Woody. I would've expected more of the same if we kept the core together.

You mean how Felton ALSO looked good under Larry Brown?

1m Jared Dubin ‏@JADubin5
When Felton was in NY: Knicks O-Rtg with Felton on court: 107.6. With Felton off the court: 108.2.

Jared Dubin ‏@JADubin5
So even in what was probably the best 54-game sample of his career, Felton's offense was better when he wasn't in the game.

And not signing Jeremy Lin opens up minutes for all three? The ****?

That's the perfect rotation he posted.

Guess we played ourselves by openly celebrating the original offer Houston gave Lin...
