Nightmare scenario has just come true. These stupid overhyped games have lead to what appears to be a serious injury which could majorly impact our World Series hopes.

The problem is that this - apparently - is a big deal to the players, as I understand it. In particular, I think it's a really big deal to the Latin ballplayers and I get that given how important baseball is to the countries of which they're citizens. This is big rivalry stuff to them and to the Asian players as well. I don't know how we can extricate ourselves from this.

What kills me even more is that this happened right after we signed Diaz to this long-term extension and the fact that it happened during the celebration after the game.

Someone is suggesting that this tournament be held mid-season instead. I think that’s a grand idea especially if it replaces the All-Star Game. And maybe we can can shorten the MLB season in the process. Win-win.

This is horrible. I literally would tune in to Mets games to watch Diaz pitch.

**** happens you move forward. The Yankees lost Mariano one year after he was playing catch at Center Field.

It's a big loss, he was automatic and Buck used him in high leverage situations but this team should still make the playoffs.

Heartbreaking loss, so much of the team's confidence last year came from deGrom and Diaz, gonna be a lot to make up for this season.

pretty much...at least its not the Achilles...thats a multiple year + maybe never returning to same form type of injury.

This one stinks but he should be the same Diaz come next year...but I think he's like top 3 in terms of Mets you can't lose if you want to win a WS. And we lost him before the season started.

9th innings which were lockdown no become an adventure.

Shouldn't be blaming the WBC for this injury. It didn't happen while pitching. Maybe don't have players jumping on each other in tight spaces to celebrate?

8 months recovery time is what I've read, so there's a chance he's back for the world series. ;-)

He’s not coming back. 8 months is for the recovery. That isn’t including building up arm strength to ramp up for game competition.
