It also sounds, based on the notes in the thread, that Walsh isn't going to take back overpaid role players in a deal that will hurt future flexibility. That probably means no Al Harrington. Also based on what he was saying about GMs taking notice of Chandler, he definitely has value. I wouldn't be surprised if Chandler is the player in the deal not Gallo and/or Fields. -Jitpal

due to the fact that denver has to sign him in the summer probably not. in fact i think that's the problem with all of our players. even gallo, ar, fields have to be signed after next year. a guy like favors has 3 more years after this on his rookie deal. if denver is rebuilding they don't want to be locked into contracts. that's probably why we don't have the "pieces" denver wants.

excellent point. i actually never thought of that, but it makes a lot more sense when you realize that. incredible that not one "expert" has ever pointed that out or mentioned it. having basically 4 cheap years with favors, versus one expiring in chandler, and one more cheap year with gallo before they're off their rookie deals.

It's true, but relevant to this is also Denver's lack of clarity about what they're looking for out of a Melo deal. There have been a lot of suggestions that Denver wants a strong established Melo-replacement in addition to prospects. Chandler, whose bird rights I believe they'd have, is probably the best player whose name has come up in the pool of established player candidates. We've heard Iguadala, and Chandler is simply having a better year (and is younger) than Iggy. Deng and Chandler have similar production, but Deng's contact is terrible and he's older. Chandler > Harris. Chandler > Varajao. Chandler is just having a really good all-around year. If Denver really does want an established player, I don't know that they're going to get one that's better than Chandler and signed to a long term deal that's cheaper than what Chandler will likely make.

After hearing what the Nuggets want for Melo I say NOONE trade for him. Let's just win the race in the summer. These muthaphuckas want FIVE first rounders! That's the Net's 2 picks and the picks they got. WTF? At that rate the Nets would be terrible for a long time with Melo. Not even Chris Paul and Melo could help that team. So the Nuggets want Murphy and Favors and 5 picks for Melo but when Iverson was putting up All Star numbers they got him for Andre Miller, a bum and 2 picks. Follow that format d*ckheads. This African doesn't know WTF he's doing.

i dont know whats with you guys and fields. i saw him play yesterday and he plays like garbage. hes scared to hold the ball, never wants to dribble. He does hustle but i dont see him being better than someone like aron afflalo, who has some really good offensive abilities.

Right let's judge him based off one game against a title contender  . Last night was arguably his worse game of the season.

Did you happen to miss the 18/9/3 game he had against your very own Nuggets?

He's had games like that FAR more often then games like last night.

Besides which, why bring up offensive abilities? We don't love Fields because we consider him some great offensive player.

Don't bother trying to explain this to him. I doubt his ballboy mind can comprehend what you are saying.

What I find most funny is that if he's so average, why is this poster clamoring that Fields "must" be included in ANY Melo deal.

Fields has had three bad games all season. Last night, and the ones against Miami and Boston in NY. Other than that, he's been our smartest and best overall player from the beginning. Leap off a ledge and into a vat of face frying chemicals, you clown ass joker.

The Nuggets are reportedly asking the Nets for five future first-round picks in exchange for Carmelo Anthony.
Then again, an unnamed NBA executive may have said it best -- "Denver needs to get real. That’s not happening." The Knicks are still a potential trade partner, and if a deal with the Nets goes down there are plenty of moving pieces. The Trail Blazers or Bobcats may become involved, and the Cavaliers have a $14.5 million trade exception that might come into play. Follow the link for details. Dec. 31 - 9:51 am et

LOL, Denver is on a Rocky Mountain High, if they think anyone would be able to give up that many future first round picks.

I'm telling you, it's the best case scenario. Denver will let him go to free agency. They are being outrageous in their demands to make Melo think he has no outs so must re-sign. They have no idea how the mind of a New Yorker works. Push a New Yorker and he says f**k ME? nooooooo, F***K YOU!!!

A New Yorker won't even care what it costs them as long as they can make you feel massive pain for doing them wrong.

With that said, I think Denver would accept the following and that Donnie will pull the trigger in order to achieve his "home run" goal of getting two superstar type players in NY:

NY Trades -> Curry, Gallo, Fields, Randolph (or 1st), $3 Million
Denver Trades -> 'Melo (extended)

That's really the best we can offer and more than fair given the circumstances.

The problem is that deal is more than fair, and you haven't taken the circumstances into account.

Why would anyone in their right mind give more than what is fair? Only a fool gives more than a fair offer that's just wasted assets/money.

Anyway, you said D won't give up Gallo and W won't give up Fields yet freaking both of them are in your deal. At best you have to figure one won't go yet you still think this deal is doable, perplexing.

He will definitely draw a lot of scorn. No question about that.

I think he's more promise than threat personally.

LOL, caught it too and thought what to do with it but you did it perfectly.

Had the weirdest dream last night. Was in the car when the radio announced the deal. All youngsters were involved, Chandler, Gallo, AR, Fields. Even Walker and TD. Was a multi-team deal and people were quite upset. Terrible stuff.
