:o

Niiiice.
Those last 70 seconds, Randle in a nut shell.

Awful 2 for 1 3PT attempt when we are up 2
Doesn’t close out on Sabonis --> open 3
Takes another side step off balance 3

We got sucked into the Randle vortex where all good feelings go to die.

Do any of you know of any websites where I can find high quality Knicks photos from this season? I like Getty Images but those are not accessible as those are only accessible by those with media credentials. Thanks!

Important: New Knicks Forum Guidelines Now In Effect

Post#13 » by Howard Mass » Sat Oct 6, 2012 8:03 am

Knicks Forum Users,

Over the past 18 months, The New York Knicks have been through some controversial situations like the Carmelo Anthony deal and the decision not to re-sign Jeremy Lin that have divided this forum and derailed the great discussion users have here.

It is alright to have a different opinion on things and know many users have a grudge about the above issues along with being upset with management and the shape of the team. As a Magic fan, I am upset with the deal The Magic got for Dwight Howard as many are. However, as hard as it is, life goes on for each NBA Franchise and beating the bush constantly on a issue only derails discussion on a forum.

This cannot happen any longer on this forum and to put a stop to it, some guidelines have been drafted for the forum that will be strictly enforced so we can get things back on track.

The following violations will result in an automatic 12 hour or three-day suspension (This will not count on Ban Scale) depending on severity. It is simply to get the great Knicks discussion back on track here.

- Baiting Users: Making a topic or thread to bait a user into an argument.

- Derailing Discussion and Threads- Making a post that takes a thread Off-Topic

- Insulting Users based on side they take on a player (Melo /loversuckers, Lin Bashers, etc)

- Backseat Moderating: Please do not say "It's a violation" or tell someone what is against The TOS. All you have to do is hit the ! button to report the post or PM a Moderator.

- Abusing the Report Function: While we encourage users to use this function, it is out of control and used for things that are not violations. Please only report a post that is a violation. If anyone has a question, they can PM a Moderator.

These new guidelines go into effective Monday October 15.

If anyone has questions or concerns, please post them in the new guidelines Questions thread.

Myself and The Knicks Moderators believe these guidelines and measures will help improve discussion on the forum.

Thanks for continuing to make this Knicks Forum the best on the web.

The Knicks have a strong roster and a good combination of players capable of competing in the Eastern Conference. The question remains an elusive one which is can these Knicks compete with the mental fortitude comparison to the Celtics against the Heat, or playing at a high level to beat teams such as the Heat. Execution no mental errors and play with the same similarity as the 70's Knicks teams who played the game at a high mental level where talent can take you but does a team have the mental awareness and mental capacity to play and execute proefficiently. These are important questions the Knick Management needs to address to make this team members elevate their games and move to the next level if possible.

Knicks CBA FAQ Thread

Post#15 » by GONYK » Fri May 17, 2013 9:03 pm

Hey Guys

This is just a thread that keeps track of questions that come up frequently on the board due to many people being unfamiliar with the intricacies of the CBA.

I figured just posting a lot of the situations that pertain to us would be helpful, in order to have a knowledge base to work from when making new threads going forward.

Anyone who understands the CBA and how it affects us in certain situations, feel free to post the explanation

PS: This thread is dedicated to Anotha Knicks fan. You were the inspiration and you are my rock.

I'll get the ball rolling with Kos' detailed explanation on Copeland's restricted status:

kosmovitelli wrote:
Same situation as Lin last year (before he won the arbitration case for Early Bird rights with the NBPA against the league) : we can use either the Non Bird Exception (120% of previous salary or minimum salary) or the Mid Level Exception to resign Copeland. As the Knicks will likely be over the apron, they will need to use the Taxpayer's Mid-Level Exception ($3.183 million in 2013-2014).

Copeland will be a restricted free agent but if another team wants to steal Copeland, they only need to offer him a two-year contract starting at $4 million with a salary decreasing by 4.5% the second season ($3,820,000). In order to convince Copeland to remain with the Knicks, management will have to overpay and offer him more guaranteed money (meaning more guaranteed seasons). The maximum length of the contract we can offer is 3 years, for teams with the Non Taxpayer's MLE, it's 4 years.

Here's the max contract the Knicks can offer :
2013-2014 : $3,183,000
2014-2015 : $3,326,235
2015-2016 : $3,469,470
TOTAL : $9,978,705

Here's an example how another team (with the Non Taxpayer's MLE) can structure a contract to beat that max Knicks offer :
2013-2014 : $4,000,000
2014-2015 : $3,820,000
2015-2016 : $3,640,000
TOTAL : $11,460,000

It's easy for another team to beat any Knicks offer but starting in 2013-2014, teams over the luxury tax level will pay an incremental rate based on their team salary and there will be repeater rate after 2014. Even though a contract starting at $4 million isn't a big burden in terms of salary, some teams may consider Copeland not worth paying the tax for (if they're close to the tax level). For a team with cap room or a team far under the tax threshold, it will be easy to convince Copeland to sign with them if they need him and believe in him.

If some posters can explain JR's situation and why we can't do sign and trades, that would be helpful

Question and not sure if this is the right place for it: Can we realistically keep Kenyon, JR, Copeland and Prigioni next season?
