Currently looking for a new Anime to watch in my spare time, yet I don't know if I have any left that would interest me. Netflix just added a ton of it to it's collection and been trying to find one that interest me.

Either way what are some of your favorites?

I've watched a few. One I finished watching is Yu Yu Hakusho. Cool storylines, good characters, and a fun series. Right now I'm midway through Cowboy Bepop. Maybe the coolest show ever. Great music. I've seen Dragon Ball Z in it's entirety and part of Dragonball GT. I like Rurouni Kenshin, but didn't finish it.

I've only seen two - Code Geass (both seasons) and Death Note (3 episodes left until I'm done with it).

Code Geass is amazing. First anime I ever watched because my friend suggested it to me...just a great show. Took a few episodes to get into it, but once I caught on, I watched multiple episodes a day.

Death Note is pretty good. Not better than Code Geass though.

Anime movie that I've heard is good is Evangelion 1.11 You Are Not Alone. I haven't watched it yet, but I will soon probably.

One of the best animes ever is legend of the galactic heroes.

If you are into starwars space battles sort of thing then legend of the galactic heroes is an awesome anime. You will only be able to watch this with subtitles as it has never been on the cartoon netork.

I'm a total One Piece fan. It's a very long anime that isn't even close to finishing, but definitely worth getting into. You probably heard of it actually.

Slam Dunk is a hilarious basketball anime. It's not that great at describing basketball, but it's still a classic, and something that might interest you. I find the beginning kind of boring, but once it starts getting into basketball, it gets a lot better.

Eyeshield 21 is kind of a football version of Slam Dunk. Pretty good too. Better drawn if that means a lot to you.

Like the posters said above, Death Note and Code Geass are pretty good. Yu Yu Hakusho and Rurouni Kenshin are also very good as well.

Oh, and stay away from English dubs. I feel like American producers don't do a good job voice casting for animes.

What genres are you into? Might help us give you better suggestions.

Totally agree on the One Piece suggestion. They have a website with links to all (currently aired) 491 episodes...which is still like 100+ episodes behind the relaeased Manga chapters. There's been a ton of storylines and character development to follow.

Don't care for sports at all, it actually annoys me. More into the fighting/action/adventure/horror etc.

Some that I actually like a lot.

Death Note
Code Geass
Fullmetal Alchemist
Soul Eater
Berserk
High School of the Dead
D-Gray Man
Bleach [Well the episodes that aren't filler]
Naruto
Darker Than Black
Black Lagoon
X
Gantz
Etc Etc

Overrated to me:
Monster
Wolf's Rain
Elfen Lied
Cowboy Bebop to a degree

Haven't Watched:
One Piece because I'm not ready for that adventure.
Claymore, same boat but about to cave in.

On Deck:
Fate/Stay Night

Ive watched Gundam Seed and thought it was solid, but I don't know if I have it in me to watch all the Gundams there are.

Well, the sagas all stand on their own, from what I understand.

Gundam Unicorn is comprised of six one-hour long episodes. The first three have been released, in both English and Japanese. So that's something you can follow easily.

shows i didn't see on your list that i liked

Samurai Champloo- One of my favorite's. Very unique blend of Japanese and Hip-hop culture. The Japanese producer Nujabes made a lot of the songs for the show.

Rurouni Kenshin/ Samurai X- This series is a huge reason i got into anime. Very good action scenes and good plot

Yu Yu Hakusho and Trigun- If you like action, well this is full of that and its funny

Hajime no Ippo- I know you said that you don't like sport anime's but i honestly didn't think i would like this show and it turned out to be good.

side note
Fate stay Night is based on a visual novel game. i liked the anime but it seemed a little too short

Samurai Champloo as per my avatar- my personal favorite. Great characters, cool fights, hilarious at times and smart. It's got it all

Ghost in the Shell if you're down for some existential thinking. Matrix type stuff.

Ninja Scroll is a classic movie.

Akira is another movie. Pretty epic but also kind of weird.

Baccano! and Gungrave.

Watch them now. 2 greatest anime of all time.

EDIT: Just saw Baccano! is available for streaming on Netflix. Now you have no excuse. You must see it.

Thanks to the OP for this thread. A lot of good suggestions. And, since I figured out a way to get Netflix here, I am currently watching the first ep of Baccano!.
