Coming from someone who grew up with a deep fear/hatred and respect for Jordan, Pippen, Phil Jackson and the Bulls? It's nice to see Chicago down 3 games to 1.

Speaking of 3 games to 1; hopefully the Knicks head into a game 5 down 3 games to 1.

Except that it won't come to that considering Gordon is restricted. I think if it came to choosing between letting Gordon walk (because someone presumably offered a MAX deal) and trading for Amar'e or matching a MAX offer for Gordon... they'd take the latter.

Philly signs Iguodoa to a similar contract as Melo but offers to trade to the Knicks would you guys do it? AI is on the same level of freakish total package athleticism as Lebron and D. Wade.

He has nowhere NEAR the affect on the game Melo has. Hell no that trade...that's horrible.

Iggy isn't even in the same stratosphere as Melo. How insulting....

A number of RealGM Knick fans get upset if I post articles. However, this one by Sam Smith has a lot on the Knicks: trade ideas involving Amar'e, comments on Tyson & Curry, and comments on JR Smith being in demand this summer.

Hopefully some of you will find it interesting. Sam is a regular reader of Real GM and some of his comments especiaqlly on Amar'e seem to come from some of you.

How about we maximize Lin's value before he Plato-es?

Trade with GS who has one of the biggest Asian communities and would like to fix their mistake of not giving Lin playing time.

NY- Stat and Lin+ plus Linsanity
GS- Lee, Curry, D.Wright, their lotto pick

I've mentioned that a few times.. minus the extra value you have them adding. So of course I'd be for it.

Lin can't be traded. You can't sign and trade him because we'd need to use the MLE to sign him.

Is there a rule that says you can't use the MLE to S&T?

what about using Lin to trade Amare for cap space + a future pick and make a run at chris paul. Remember, the goal was to acquire 2 superstar-caliber players to make a run at a title. I think carmelo has superstar - level talent but needs a stud PG for him to reach his full potential.

Chris Paul would take this team to the next level. Paul-Shumpert-Melo-Chandler is the start to a very nice team plus a 1st rd pick in 2013 and future 1st from the Lin deal to fill out the roster also about $3-4m in space left. I think that team has a 3-5 year window as one of the best in the league especially if they use their draft picks and exceptions well. It's a very risky move because Lin could end up being a very good player BUT there is a much better chance of Paul wanting to sign here then Lin turning into Paul. Paul-Melo may not be Wade-James good BUT it's pretty close. And worse case scenario we still have cap space to fill out the team around Melo and be a team that is a 4-6 seed for a few years.

We have so much invested into Melo, why not go the extra mile and take a chance at having a duo that can match up with ANY in the league. Opportunities like this don't come around often.

If Lin (or Fields) signs an offer sheet with another team, and then we match it, we're not allowed to trade him for a year, much less do a sign and trade.

Larry Coon's CBA Salary Cap FAQ wrote:If the team matches an offer sheet and retains their free agent, then for one year they cannot trade him without his consent, and cannot trade him at all to the team that signed him to an offer sheet. They also can't trade the player in a sign-and-trade transaction
