Oh ok. How about this?

Pistons receive: Corey Magette, Jerome Jordan & #2 overall pick (Andre Drummond?)

Bobcats receive: Amar'e Stoudemire, Toney Douglas, & #8 overall pick

Knicks receive: Rodney Stuckey, Tyrus Thomas, & Tayshaun Prince or Charlie Villanueva
Ugh!

That ... actually makes sense for everyone. Pistons can trade Prince and still amnesty Villanueva.

We'd be soo deep after that trade.

PG: Lin/ Stuckey
SG: Shumpert/ JR (opts in)
SF: Anthony/ Prince
PF: Thomas/ Herellson
C: Chandler/ Jeffries

We get better defensively & if Thomas comes focused which he would considering he's playing for a good team again & in NY then we'd be a 50 win team easy. Thomas had an excellent mid range shot in his Bulls & early Bobcat days. He could average 13/7/2 blocks easy. We also would have possibly the best bench in the league with Stuckey, JR, & Prince coming off it.

What about this ... NO has been talking about moving the 10th pick if the right deal comes around ...so they move it and Okafor and Jarred jack for Amare and 2 later 1st round picks ... Boston gives up their 2 late first round picks and late 2nd round pick to move up to the 10th and select maybe Meres Leonard ... Knicks give up Amare huge contract for Defense and a solid back up PG and a up and coming PF and a extra 2nd round

NYK recieve
Emeka Okafor , C
Jarred Jack, PG
Jujaun Johnson, PF
51st pick

PG. Linn/ Jarred Jack
SG. Shumpert/ JR (opt in) / 48 draft pick
SF. Melo / Fields / 48 draft pick
PF. Okafor / Jujuan Johnson / 51st pick
C. Chandler / Okafor / Harrelson

NO receives
A. Stoudemire
21 pick
22 pick

Pg. G Vasquez/ Marquis Teague
Sg. E. gordon/ G. Vasquez / D.Lamb (maybe since Gordon is so injury prone)
Sf. Ariza
Pf. A. Davis
C. STAT

Boston Receives
10th pick
T.Douglas
J. Jordan

Pg. Rondo
Sg. A. Bradley
Sf. Peirce
Pf. ?
C. Meyers Lenard ... or they have options here with the 10th pick and plenty salary cap to sign some good pieces

Oh hell yeah. Although the difference between Prince and Villanueva is HUUUUGGEEE. Looking at the trade, I think Detroit still does it if it's Tayshaun.

This is actually a great idea. I'm not just saying that because I love it for us.

Detroit: Move up 6 spots in the draft. Be in position to add a much needed C. That alone would be enough incentive if I was in charge of Detroit, but you also have them shed 2 very long contracts (Stuckey and Prince). With Knight onboard, they have zero need for Stuckey. I'd say this is a huge yes for Detroit.

Charlotte: Turn two overpaid role players into one overpaid star at the cost of moving down 6 spots. Thomas has worn out his welcome in Detroit and Maggette is useless on that team. Amar'e would be the unquestionable leader and would give the fans somebody to actually cheer for, MJ somebody to market and give the team some wins. Also, it's been reported that Charlotte doesn't like anyone at #2, if that's the case they could end up with someone like Barnes (if he lasts) at #8.

New York: I really like Tayshaun Prince and I think if you want to play Melo at PF, Prince would be one of the ideal SFs to pair him with. Prince can defend 1-4 and can contribute on offense. While he's injury prone, it's a risk you gotta take sometimes. Tyrus Thomas has kind of been a head case, but he's also shown promise. He'll never live up to the #2 pick/LaMarcus trade status, but he could definitely start and contribute. Also, he could learn a lot from Tyson. Personally I don't like Stuckey that much, but I can see he's a good player. He could be the perfect scorer off the bench and play both guard spots competently (he can defend PGs but lacks playmaking skills or he can play SG but can't defend SGs well). We'd also have zero need for Landry after this trade, so we can try to sign and trade him for a future asset or something.

Imagine this line up-

PG: Lin/ Stuckey/ FA
SG: Shumpert (when healthy)/ JR (if he comes back)/ Stuckey
SF: Melo/ Prince/ Novak (if he comes back)
PF: Thomas/ Melo/ Jefferies
C: Tyson/ Thomas/ Jorts

Nice balance and depth.

You guys are nuts. Prince is washed up, Tyrus Thomas sucks and Rodney Stuckey is overrated. All of these contracts are ridiculous and your not gonna find time to play all these guys. If we are gonna trade Amare it should be to help with our cap flexibility, not trade him for worse contracts.

There's really no deal to be made because the Knicks don't have many players to fill out a roster.

Two trade pieces are Melo and Chandler...and you're NOT going to do that deal because it would never benefit NY.

Yeah. Really our only trade would be an Amar'e trade but that would be unlikely because of how low his value is right now. That means all of our improvement will have to come internally, through free agency and to a very small degree the draft (with a very late pick).

Random thought: If we could get Pietrus for the minimum, would you want him? and would you let Landry walk (or try to get a small asset for him)?

I was thinking about it. I'd rather pay Pietrus the minimum or even the BAE, then to give Landry a multi year deal at anything over $3 million. Especially if we're looking at trying to keep flexibility with the new harsh luxury tax.

Question:
What would be a fair return for DPOY Tyson Chandler?

Fields is as free agent and not under contract, so we can't trade him. And free agency starts after the draft, so we can't sign-and-trade him for a pick either, not that a sign-and-trade would even happen at all with the BYC element and the changed rules governing S&T under the new CBA.

We can only trade assets under contract (or future picks) for a pick in this upcoming draft.
