amar'e to philadelphia for elton brand's expiring contract

amar'e to washington for rashard lewis's expiring contract (I actually think the wizards would be wise to do this. bring in amar'e and d'antoni. between wall, amar'e, and nene, that can be a team fighting for that last playoff seed next year).

amar'e + lin for whatever.

By the time those guys expire, won't we be paying Lin max money?

rashard and brand expire after next season. They're the only two big expirings I can think of. I think Kevin Martin and Al Jefferson are expiring too, but I'd imagine their teams might try to re-sign them. Maybe. I know Jazz have no use for Amar'e.

That would be a good trade for Washington imo. Moving Rashard's contract and building a contender from the get-go next year with their lottery picks, a seasoned Wall & veteran presence with Nene & Amare and a lot of salary space to sign a few FAs.

I think Lin becomes eligible for a huge deal after next season though.

If not, then I like trading Amare for Shard; but they have to give us Booker or Seraphin as well.

what could we get for Lin in a sign and trade? 2 1st rd picks and a rotation player/expiring to get a PG?

Absolutely nothing. Lin is a good kid with limited talent and unlimited heart but that don't sell.

Only movable parts: Melo and Tyson.

Teams aren't fools. Only Isiah.

I think the deal is for next season and the season after, Lin can only be paid the MLE at max. so his contract won't be too big for the summer of 2013 which is when rashard would come off the books.

Lin is extremely valuable. Not as a basketball player, but as a source of revenue. Lin means sold out regular season games and increased merchandise sales. Plus, he is not going to be paid more than the MLE for the next two seasons. If the Knicks wanted to include him in a trade to get rid of Stoudemire's contract, their options would expand a lot. Instead of just dumping Amar'e for other bad contracts, they could actually get some good players. But Lin is so valuable to Dolan, that I'm pretty sure they're not willing to trade him.

I'd be in favor of Lin/Amare for Parker/Splitter.

Duncan/Amare front court with Lin. Doubt Spurs do it, but I like it for NY.

Or Lee/Curry for Amare/Lin.

Only if Curry seems to be healthy. GS gets to fix their mistake, and gets an Amare/Bogut front court. Healthy that team could be real good.

Another one:

Pau/Session for Amare/Lin

Lakers already have a large payroll, Lin should up revenue, plus they could see Bynum/Lin as the future after Kobe. NY gets out of the risk of Amare's contract, gets a big man who can rebound and defend, plus a good PG whose added a 3P shot.

Lakers would burst out laughing if we offered that. Sessions have been playing extremely well and Gasol land have been the Gasol of old. Amare is a unmovable contract.

Not before Dolan burst out laughing first.

What if Baron continues to play well and the Knicks at least win a few games in the 1st round? Could the Knicks resign Baron and then sign and trade Lin? Would a team like Portland give up one of there draft picks?

EDIT: At what point in the draft does that become a good move? A top 10 pick? top 5? Or is Lin not worth a lottery pick?
