You're basing this post on the assumption that we haven't seen him play? Not fair to those of us that have. We all know he's not a good defender - offense is where he will be effective. He has good vision, can shoot, and can run the pick and roll. We are looking for role players with our pick...Machado can be one.

Of course we are looking for role players and we are looking for the BPA. Machado would not be the BPA. If you have seen him play and seen the MAAC, then you would know how terrible the MAAC is. His stats are inflated based on the level of players he had on his team and still could not deliver a MAAC championship? Seriously? That in itself is a huge red flag.

And as I said this fan fare reminds me of a former MAAC prospect that everyone was drooling over. If you don't remember Jared Jordan look him up. Same height, also lead the nation in apg, same great court vision, great at pick and rolls, better shooter but we all how he turned out.

Machado could be nice but the chances that he produces on the level of other great point guards from small schools is very slim and for that I would not waste our only draft pick on him as opposed to other players with size and have played against some of the best competition. He would however be a nice pickup if he goes undrafted.

Lol@JaredJordon...i was hoping he would be decent for us

Ok. Then who would be the BPA with the 48th pick?

I have seen him. I know the MAAC isn't the best league in the NCAA, but that doesn't take away from the skills he has that will translate to the NBA. He has skills that translate to the NBA.

The fact that he managed to put up those stats while on a poor team says a lot about his game.

Im a Georgetown fan and have seen alot of him. He would be a good value with this pick. He is a very good shooter, good defender with good size. Also the Garden would not be too big a stage for him as he has played many games there in the Big East

James Jones clone. Don't really want to use our only pick on a one-dimensional player.

Talent wise he actually had the best team in the MAAC, that's the problem. Now if he was putting up those stats with a sorry team and led them to a MAAC championship. That would have said more about the player he really is. He could be good and I can be be wrong but I think this Jared Jordan all over again and I wouldn't take that risk.

IMO since we already have a young PG, we should get a veteran PG via FA and draft any other position. DJO if he is there, no doubt would be exactly what we need. If not any of the other players mentioned would be great.

So you're against him because he had a poor team around him and didn't win the championship...even though he has the offensive skills necessary to be a point guard. Got it. As far as Iona being the most talented team in that conference -- up for debate. I don't care much about the conference tournament to be honest. He led his team to a 15-3 record during the regular season (and was 25-8 overall). That says more to me than a single-elimination tournament.

As for signing a vet PG...if we lose the arbitration case, which we probably will, we won't have any money to sign someone. So, unless you want Bibby and Douglas running backup point duties, we kinda need a point guard.

As for DJO, I'd be fine getting him, but he's going to be picked before us. He had an absolute monster combine.

Iona had the best team because they supposedly had an NBA player and best player in the whole conference in Machado, and arguably the 2nd best player (Mike Glover) and couldn't win. No other team had NBA-caliber players except maybe Fairfield who had one good player. But yeah, i'm going stop here because I'm beating a dead horse here. I'm just saying, reminds me a lot of Jaren Jordan. If you can tell me how he's not like Jaren Jordan then I'd like to here that.

I'm sure we'll be able to find a solid vet PG besides Bibby to help Lin out for the Vet Min but we'll see. I just can't wait for this draft.

trade
knicks get... okafor , jarred jack, jujuan johnson, 22nd pick , 51st pick
NO gets ... STAT and 21st pick
Boston gets TD J,Jordan and 10th pick

Pick Andrew Nicholson with the 22nd .... and stay put with 2 late 2nd ... or try to move back up to the early 2nd or late first (from a team not wanting to take on contracts) and draft a SG, with a package of the late 2nds and Harrelson

ok dream world is over ... just was watching Highlights of Nicholson seem like would be a good fit for the knicks

I'm hoping we go for the best defensive player on the board.

Shump (because of his defense) made such a HUGE difference for us last year. Plus you see a kid like Sefalosha & the impact he had on the game -- even a kid like Nick Collison.

I don't want to reach for a potential decent offensive player --- I want an big time athlete, with heart, passion and the ability to defend either the PG, SF or PF positions.

I know he's out of our range but the kid from Vandy (Jeff Taylor) is an elite athlete with rep as a shut down defender --- that's the type of kid I want to look for --- someone who can spell our starters but bring big time energy.

I don't know if that player exists at 48 but that would be my preference.

We need help in the backcourt.

I'd love to grab Tu Holloway.

Will Barton has been impressive and seems to have made the jump to a late first round pick.

Jared Cunningham is interesting but he is a little too similar to Iman Shumpert with even less ability to play PG.

I could see Tony Wroten dropping into the second round unless someone reaches for him based on potential. Also similar to Shumpert but less polished, worse jumpshot, but better court vision.

Doron Lamb seems to be on the bubble of late first and early second for some reason. Not a great athlete but he would be an excellent pick for us if we could trade up.

Not a big fan of DJO. Wouldn't be mad if we selected him but at the same time I don't think an undersized SG really helps us.

kim english is starting to become someone i would like at 48. good height at 6'6 for a 2 guard. hopefully his defense is average enough. you need shooters to space the floor and we currently have none with novak and smith futures uncertain

I've been wanting him since last year (pause). Great shooter, athletic, good defender, and my favorite part-he plays TOUGH. He had to guard PFs on a daily basis because the team went with 4 guard lineups.

I also like Ratliffe as a very late second (if we buy a pick) or as a UFA.

OT, but can someone tell me whats the knock on Will Barton?

I know this guy is 200 lbs soaking wet, but i think hes a great ball player

He averaged 18ppg, 8rpg, and 3apg...shot 50%

Im not basing this on stats, but i'd take him over plenty of guys that'll be 1st rounders

It's just a bunch of physical tests, but his numbers at the combine looked pretty bad for a swingman.
