The difference between them and most teams is they kept making the playoffs... A lot of teams were bounced by those lakers/spurs teams but how many made it to the playoffs to get bounced like 8 years in a row.

Look at his opponents:

03: KG Timberwolves
04: World Champ Spurs
05: Clippers... ok this ones kind of bad
06: Spurs again
07: Lakers
08: Lakers in WCF
09: Deron WIlliams Jazz

The jazz and the clippers are eh but all of those others were a bad draw. LeBron was swept by those same spurs that beat Melo

Yeah, those teams were all good teams. But if a Carmelo Anthony-led team was incapable of beating those teams, how could you expect a Carmelo-led NY team will be capable of winning a championship in the future and you know that to get there in the process, you will need to not only good teams but elite teams right? I don't think our goal is just making the playoffs, right? Not exactly all on Carmelo's faults of course but if you used the argument that those teams were just favourites, do we also need to expect that teams like the Heat and Bulls will always be favourites against us and we may risk not going all the way in the Carmelo era? The argument that Carmelo always lost to better teams is quite frankly dumb, if the Knicks lose to the Heat for the next 5 years, Carmelo still couldn't be blamed because the Heat is always better than us?

I think we may have to give it time. But if we don't at least grab a top 3 seed next season, we will be underdogs once again and I don't think this core will last after one more 1st round exit.

Melo was playing those teams because he didn't consistently lead his team to good regular season records. In the tough series you point out the Nuggets were an 8th seed, 7th seed, 6th seed, 8th seed, and a 2nd seed. Making the playoffs in the NBA isn't a huge deal especially when compared to other sports. NBA 16 of 30 make it compared to 12 of 32 in the NFL and 8 of 30 in the MLB.

Melo can't do it with all the talent around him. He is not a franchise player. Just an elite scorer.

He seems to think he is...

really Melo is a fault for these games in Miami? haters going to hate. Three players showed up last nite Melo Chandler and Davis they played on the floor even when they were not scoring they were trying to defend and Stat....... well he did not box out lost rebounds to scrubs missed 3 consecutive free throws a blown la up that lead to a 5 point swing (-2 for the miss attempt and a 3 point play on the other end)
Yeah this was on melo alone

he's never became a team player in NBA... always shooting like crazy, trying to prove something, he hurts team's chemestry, it's an old story people like to forget until they get sick of it...

guys, the intention of this thread wasn't to hate on melo. i was just posting an article that was interesting.

or all the love he gets for being the "most clutch player in the nba", it's only fair that he get some blame for not being so "clutch" in the playoffs, no?

Sometimes role players don't move without the ball because they know the "stars" more often than not don't pass.
Sometimes role players don't shoot well because they rarely get open looks off the passes from the "stars".
Sometimes role players don't rebound or defend well because they are never rewarded on the offensive end.
That's a reason why some players are called "role players" in the sense that they can't create for themselves and have to play off the "stars".
See, basketball is a team sport. It goes both ways. Can't always blame the role players not moving without the ball, not making open shots, not performing well in their supporting role. The stars also have to take some blame in their leading role.

Melos team went up against GREAT teams and lost

other than UT, wasnt their coach out? and LAC which could be debated (i thought his team had injuries)

but the spurs and LAL were just LOADED

what happened when Lebron played the spurs? his team got CLOWNED also

the failure of melo is not on the player, but on the fact they played better teams

Probably because he's been playing for low-seeded playoff teams - Knicks and Nuggets.

im sure thats all due to carmelo's shortcomings as a player and nothing to do with the lack of talent around him, or the talent of the teams in which he's faced. common sense people.

Melo needs to change himself

I expect this year's olympics, if he participates, to revolutionize his game

He needs to come back next year as a brand new man
