the real debate here should be whether or not the lottery is rigged.
Stern was extremely defensive, and this comment didnt help him out.
It makes me curious...

Uh, no. There is no debate. The lottery is not rigged. What exactly does the NBA have to gain by rigging it? Why would Stern risk imprisonment, wealth, and a legacy to help the Hornets? Do you think a supposed marginal increase in the sale of the Hornets is more financially beneficial than the the increased revenue from putting Davis in Brooklyn? C'mon, get real. He probably became so defensive because what he was being accused of is pretty damn serious. It is downright offensive to be accused of such a serious crime. Rome basically asked him if he committed a federal crime, if he had no dignity, and no integrity. After all, those are the ramifications of rigging the lottery.
As far as Stern suspending a player for similar comments. Why would this be? As mentioned, it was a classic retort. Grasping at straws here.

It's a loaded question.
Utah Jazz:
PG: Chris Paul/Gary Neal/Ish Smith
SG: Courtney Lee/Reggie Williams/Omri Casspi
SF: Gordon Hayward/Mike Dunleavy/Earl Clark
PF: Kevin Love/Darrell Arthur/Jan Vesely
C: Tiago Splitter/Greg Stiemsma/Nazr Mohammed
Coach: Dave Joerger

Asking if either should apologize is like trying to find a legitimate NBA referee to oversee a duel between tools. Neither will retract anything.

I actually agree with stern. Another poster compared it to a reporter asking Obama if he was really born in America- because "a lot of people are wondering" that doesn't make it a legitimate question to ask. It's obvious that stern was looking for the cheap thrill that stern referenced. I hate stern as much as the next guy but I think he was 100% right

Nobody said he was in the wrong for sticking up for himself. What he did that was wrong was using a very tasteless phrase to go back at Rome....Are people understanding this or just not reading?

Can you explain why it is tasteless. Just because the words "beat your wife" are in it, doesn't make it tasteless. The phrase doesn't condone domestic violence nor does it make light of domestic violence. As I said earlier, if anything, it is the recognition of how wrong such an act is that makes the phrase a particularly strong retort.

Stern just issued a statement that he meant to say "beat your dick" instead.

Of course he didn't. David Stern is a senile old man and he thinks he's Michael Corleone or some other mob boss character. Just look at some of the quotes he and that other old man exchanged to each other during the CBA negotiations. This is the NBA, not some gangster hangout. Act professional you idiots.

If you think the phrase is offensive to women, then you clearly don't understand it.
It's offensive to no one but the person being asked the question

Nyklampe sorry but you're the one who doesnt understand. Stern might have responded somewhat childishly but it was in no way offensive or out of line. Rome ask an extremely unprofessional question that was clearly trying to provoke stern- some of you thinks that gives him balls but no, he should have more respect when talking to the commish and I think that's why stern was upset
