Knicks want Felton AND Lin ..... here's why

Post#1 » by HateMyThreads » Sun Jul 15, 2012 2:52 am

They want Kidd to play the 2 guard. Kidd actually wants to play more off the ball with lin since at this age he's not a penetrator at this point of his career but he's still a DEADLY shooter. Kidd is 3rd all time in 3 point makes. His rep from early on deceives him but if you see his numbers of the last couple of years anyone who doubles off Kidd by choice is an absolute MORON. So I heard some ESPN radio and Broussard said he expected Kidd to play a lot of 2 guard this year. With Lin and Kidd on the floor at the same time Kidd or Lin can handle the ball and either or can play off the ball. With Felton you have a pure PG that when in-shape can penetrate to the lane and is a pure PG and solid ball handler.

So no fear cause this was in the plans. When Shump gets back we'll deal with the issue of who see's the floor and having too much depth being a problem then. As for now you'll see Lin and Felton at PG, Kidd and Smith at SG .... Kidd a bit of a hybrid guard but don't be surprised if he's bringing the ball up as the PG and giving it up right away to get into position to spot up shoot. Kidd and Novak on 2 opposites of the court while Felton is running the PG with Amare .... this is a ridiculous 2nd unit. With Camby as well we'll be one of the deeper teams in the league and still be able to put up points and give Tyson, Melo, & Amare rest in certain parts of the game to keep them fresh.

Keep deluding yourself... acquiring Felton means that Lin should buy his plane ticket to Houston right about now..

you are on crack ,,, since 04/05 he's reinvented his game completely and he's been one of the top 3 point makers and consistent percentage wise. He's always near the mid/high 30's and even cracked the 40's a couple of times since then. HE's made 131,176,133, and in the shortened season last year 79. Shooting 40.6, 42.5, 34%, 35.4 ...... if he didn't have that rep from his early days no one would EVER double off this guy. He's also freaking clutch with the 3 as well in 4th quarters shooting 45% from 3 in the last 5 years. If you think that isn't top level stuff you're nuts. He came in a below average shooter .... he's now an above average shooter.

Of course that's the plan. There are no better SGs that the Knicks can get with no cap space since they didn't match for Fields.

Acquire Felton as PG ... move Kidd to SG ... and still match Lin. That looks like what is going on. That works for offense but certainly doesn't look like a stellar defense for the backcourt.

However, it is still a very big gamble though especially if Lin does not live up to what NY needs and does end up being a bust/flop as many Knicks fans think. If that were to happen, to use Knicks fan's vernacular, the Knicks would have F6 ... two Fortys, a Fatty, a Flop, and still get stuck with a Forty Five million dollar luxury tax payment.

Rockets's big signing will end up being Asik to an atrocious contract when its all said and done.

I don't see that as too surprising of a notion. And it adds up. There are few SGs out there. We need one. Just let "one" get away (the " " is b/c Fields IMO is/was not a SG). A line up with Melo and Amare (and Lin) has enough scoring.

Look at what LAC did with Billups and Paul which worked well before the injury.

My heart says, "No Way" but logic says, why would we have four point guards going into the season? Maybe they risk resigning Lin, then trade him for another player with a bright future and picks?

Either way, something gotta give and if we don't resign Lin and let him go, many Lin fans in NY will react negatively on this franchise and ofcourse the media will continue their hate against us. God forbid we don't resign Lin and he goes on to be a legit all-star every year from this upcoming season on or imagine he ends up winning a "Chip" before the Knicks do.

You could be correct. There are always things going on behind the scenes hich sometimes come out after all is done. It started with us not making the initial offer to Lin, then Lin is upset with the Knicks, then Rockets up offer to Lin, then Knicks haven't received Rockets offer in order to match......what the hell is going on here?????

This will all be over by monday, the latest anyway!

Lin is gone, and it prollly a good sign. heres why, if they thought lin was really the star we all want him to be they would have resigned him no matter what. Obviously they think felton for a little over 3mil a year is greater or equal to Lin. The other good sign about this is that the team is making BASKETBALL MOVES not PR MOVES

So an organization that always seems to make the wrong moves is now right all of a sudden? I doubt that very much. If they lose Lin, watch him continue to surprise whether it's in Houston or anywhere else. This will just be another mistake in the long line of mistakes this team has made.
